The lycras this year have a special pocket machined inside of / to the back of the lycra to securely carry the two flares (clever, huh?!?) ...

Nothing less than expected of the best run kiting event ever. Top score - yet again

Polite Reminder!

Today is the last day for successful ballot holders to pay their entry fee of $150.

Those that are not paid by COB today will forfeit their spot - that will then be offered to the LONG list of people that do have $150 and wish to race in this year's L2L!

Whoops I have been on the road for the last few weeks with limited internet, I drove from South Oz to Perth yesterday and missed this so I suppose I am out.

I have been deliberating since I was selected, I really wanted to do the L2L this year because for the first time I had bought a board especially for it, however my 2 favourite events of the year (L2L and the King of the Cut SUP race) happen to be on the same day.

The King of the Cut downwinder is also a qualifier for the State team to compete in the Nationals which I really want to compete in again next year so I will do that.

I know it probably doesn't affect to many people but I am sure there is others that would like to do both as well so it would be great if they could be held on different dates.

Anyway I hope my spot goes to someone who is really keen to do this race, thanks to Red Bull, Tim Turner etc for holding this great event which I really hope to do again one year and all the best to those that got in or may still get in.

OUr friends at Rottnest Express have just announced a competition … Check it out on FB, win a spot (at least one, maybe more…) for the 2014 race.

It will need some creativity though! Go to the * Win * page / section and look for the deets.

So, to confirm this comp is open to any kiter who meets the entry criteria (100+ hours kiting experience and WAKSA or KBA Member), that is you dont have to have actually entered in the ballot.

I've been hoping for strong winds since this event started but it has never really kicked in like it can.
I am going to give it a miss this year so you can bet it will be cranking.

For the last couple of years it's been peeps mowing the grass on 0.005m swell and 12.5knots! No offense to the crew on fridge doors.

I have been speaking to a few contacts and have managed to get a two low pressure cell organized 3 days before the race and 1 the night before..

The money is on me taking out the race on the trusty twin tip and C kite!

And Cauncy! You're on!

28knots gusting to 30knot early in the day. Wind trending WSW swinging to SW by the afternoon.

Light showers persisting during the day.

Seas of 2m and swells of 3m.

Leave the fridge doors at home.

Has there has been any further emails since getting the confirmation of being picked? I paid up before the deadline but didn't hear anything further to confirm entry but I'm not sure the email didn't end up in the junk box..

No further emails have gone out (other than to those who didn't pay their entry fee on time) …

Bag tags arrived from the USA today, so in about two weeks time wil be mailed out, as well as the pre-race info. An email and post will let you know when to check your post box.

As well, if you didn't secure a spot this year, please consider volunteering on the day to either help launch kites at Rotto or land kite at Leighton.

Info from WAKSA around this opportunity will be emailed out this week...
