This empty thread pretty much sums up the kiting I've been doing of late.
Thank god the surfs been good.
No one has posted in here for a while................. Anyone been getting among these westerlys... Plenty of wind on Lake Illawarra today!
Heaps of wind up on the central coast/Lake Macquarie in the past four weeks. Haven't seen a southerly for over a month which is disappointing.
But we have had some great westerlies, and foiling has certainly meant 10knot days are now fun.

I am so looking forward to a southerly or even a surprise nor'easter on Saturday!!!!
I don't even know where to go if it's huge wind and waves from Ne. Could be tricky to find clean waves....
Norah Head was a lot SCARY. A couple of guys tried, but struggled to stay on Terra firma flying 7's.
I decided to have a go on Lake Munmorah and was appropriately powered on 5.5 Cloud. (40 knot gusts yee haa)
Got a windsurf in at Easties yesterday... It was very inconsistent and gusty. Had a few swims, busted a sail but got a couple of fun waves in between it all.. Just a mess today!!
Yeah I went scoping today but didn't find anything worth getting wet for. The ocean looked like a washing machine. Didn't see anyone in the water anywhere.
A few of us got out at Narrabeen on Saturday. Overpowered survival conditions on 6m but managed to catch a few waves and pull out before getting washed up on beach. Couldn't even get to the beach today because of the floods.
Good little session yesterday at yarra bay, was stoked haven't been out in weeks! Got there about 2:30pm just after some crazy gusts! lucky it settled down and had fun kiting in the rain!
I got a lot of sessions in last winter with SW winds, but been either too light or to w most weekends (when I've had time to kite)
Must be great conditions for the Snow kiters, I'll have to try that one day.
Just checking out these pix(surfingboye)
How often is it like that and in what months&where?looks great! Thanx
I bet theres no reply this was ages ago
Haha what a monster @Mini! Good times, glad you managed to capture that moment.
I lost my board on the second wave, so had to body drag in to retrieve it. I remember seeing this wave and just powering myself toward the horizon. I was washing machined and managed to keep the kite flying. Key tip here is to go against the wave, probably would've drowned or shredded my kite if I was heading toward the shore.
So did your friend see it nearly crash. does the wave pull the kite down or lines stay straight up
Let me know because often wondered what happens to the kite in that predicament.or does wind power keep lines straight up when duckdiving ? Did u nearly get wrapped in the lines at all ? Or allways manage to keep them above you... Thanx
(i like the physics )
Yeah so you want to go against the wave to keep tension in the lines. If you body drag to shore and a wave hits you, the kite will lose all tension and fall out of the sky. This would then get quite dangerous with slack lines floating about. Pick your conditions and stay safe.
Don't tell me we're going to get a NE today.
Been too long since I've seen that old friend.
Please come by.
They are starting to become a little more regular. Today is looking good. Warilla for me. Surf is a bit small but.
Yeah I saw you at Gerroa today. Was keen to join you but opted for Werri instead. Had the worst session ever.
Kited Warilla before lunch but not enough punch in the wind. Damn pre summer wind.
Georra was solid wind early in the day , was on the water by 11 and had two hours of good wind .. It went really north in the arvo ... The boys got Easties for a kite, was meant to be good ..
