How was it?
Photos?
Wind never really made it that far North, One guy had a go and ended up swimming into Lighthouse bay....
Strange as Graveyards was howling,
I ended up having to work but am keen to here how everyone went, would have been a big afternoon for sure......
Noooooooo! Leaving Perth tomorrow morning, where's the wind gone? Oh well, will be awesome conditions for snorkelling with the family. Fingers crossed it is only a few calm days then builds back up later in the week.
^^ That's hilarious! I'm in the same boat, guess what time and date I sail back in from work,.... You guessed it, midday Tuesday! LOL!
Ok I'm here and looking for some likeminded crew to go out with :) Pm me for my number or to give yours and we can get cranking ! Looks like the next 3 days are the go then flatline..
We had wind Sunday to Wednesday. Thursday was a sandy bay family Fck around day. Wind yesterday and the next three days. Then tues wed for some more family fun, then heading back Thursday via dongora... Only thing we haven't had is some decent surf. Hoping Monday. Been a bit of everything. Cloud cover this morning, weird.
Finally arrived late arvo today. First time here. Already seen a turtle swimming at mauritius beach, and who knows how many whales (lots) breaching off the surf beach just below the lighthouse. But wind not looking that promising. Oh well, lucky I'm here for a fortnight. Guess the first week will be all about the family and snorkelling etc, then the second week can be all a bout the wind, fingers crossed.
Can anyone send me in a good direction for 12 and 14 yr old kids to body board?

Dunes..can be big has rocks
Wobiri the safest.eppo would know this....
Hey aspiremr
My kids are at dunes now, been here since 6 this morning, not too big this morning, but the tide is out at.
Surf looked good this arvo (Sunday) Eppo. Hope you made the most of it,
Nah hung around waiting for the turn ... nothing then did a mad dash to wobiri so the young lad could have a quick bash. Can't complain sunset was nice.
Had a pretty average bundegi sesh this morning will head to sandy bay, mate has packed a 19m core ya never know. Got the boys uno as well just in case the young lad wants a crack.
Anyhow weather is warm better than freezing in Mandurah.
Thanks Juicerider. We ended up at Wobiri and it was awesome. My first time up here, what a magnificent place to holiday with kids. Wobiri was perfect. I ecven tried supping in waves to the entertainment of everyone on the beach I am sure. Balance is much harder when I dont have a kite to haul my ass back up when i overbalance.
Leaving today.. What a trip! Wind was a bit hit and miss but able to get out about six times. I think the highlight was surfing down the line at graveyards with the seventeen on Monday arvo. I think I'm hooked on surfing now haha !! Good to meet a bunch of you there as well. Hope the wind kicks in for the people still up here
That's how it was for me the missus and the young lad but other than that it wa awsome :-) our laptop was in the caravan and is knackered so can't put up kiting pics for now but will do soon :-)
Dan you are a champ. Couldn't believe after that crash you still made it up. Was great kiting with ya buddy. You have to relate how you got up here to everyone man it's the stuff of legends (and your better half is even more incredible). It's a shame though you didn't get the swell and wind aligned like it can do up here.
Got on big bad ass borbas 19m core XR at sandy bay on Monday, was fun as it nearly pulled my guts from my body. Nice kite though.
Today nothing except my son was nearly up and planing on his 4m uno at graveyards this arvo which is probably even better than a kite myself to be honest.
Tomoz nada then hit Dongora for a few beers with Mick and grab maybe a cold north westerley kite
Damn nice up here no doubt.
Dan, when you told us the story over a beer at graveyards on the Saturday arvo I couldn't believe it!!! great to kite with you as well buddy.
Eppo I did try suggest to te pilot to fly past graveyards this arvo to give use a bit more wind haha gotta agree Exmouth is awesome. Must do for a kite holiday !!
Ah so now I know who glasstrax is cool.
Thanks for the cold beer.
Yeh I can't say the last ... what three trips have been that great. The one before that the swell and wind aligned. It was balls to the walls 5 maybe 6 days in a row. The Bomby (not that I was on it) was just out of control. I even contemplated getting on a SB again ... but that quickly passed lol.
Here's to next year anyway. ...
I've been here 3 days now, my first ever trip this far north. No wind to get excited about yet, but what a stunning spot regardless. The beaches are sublime, it's warm, the water is warm'ish and crystal clear, and great small waves for the kids to play in. I think we'll manage to have plenty of fun on the down days, and when the wind arrives it will be sweeter. Fingers crossed it gets here soon.
Jemma and I will bring some wind up with us on Friday , looking forward to kiting and beers with you guys this weekend
Where is the pick of Caravan parks? I've done some "rustic" camping up that way but think of taking the family next year. Is The Lighthouse the way to go?
See you on the plane Friday morning Bronnieren. We'll all need to get kites in on Sat and Sun and maybe Monday on 12s. Tuesday looks like a surfing / fishing day for me. Who knows what will happen after that . Only 2 sleeps to go
.
KenH
My preference is Yardie creek myself. Close to graveyards (4km away) and closer to the park for daily visits. Apparently Jason was telling me the water is prettt ****e at lighthouse as well, pokey sites.
Post some pics to bore you lot when I get back Friday.
We stayed at a Lookout Chalet at the lighthouse caravan park. Brilliant views of the lighthouse Bommy and all the whales scooting around. A good location as well being sort of in the middle of the Eastern, northern and southern spots. The actual chalets are a bit rundown, but if you like a nice sundowner watching the sunset, cant beat it.
Three sleeps to go!
When it's windy, kite.
When it's not, flyfishing; queenies, spangleds, a GT (?), and even the chance for an elusive bonefish ...
awesome mix of nuking 6m and twintip blasts, some fun as wave kiting, epic bombie sessions on SUPs with just 2 other mates, few fun dunes sessions, plenty of pushing the kids into waves at wobiri and loads of beer. beautiful place on earth.
Well I just back last night after a slow crawl home the cruiser was overheating on the road into Exmouth last week thanks to Mal at the 4x4 shop for the advice and assistance my week was a disaster as far as wind was concerned no wind from the Sunday 2nd till leaving early Saturday morning
the best part was watching the turtles at the graveyard
for those who are heading up there hope it blows hard for ya

Agree with you mate stayed in both, Yardie much friendlier and kitchen area much better not many emus walking through camp but plenty Roos at night
Strange week of wind but Town beach has been the session saviour in the mornings... Great to see so many crew making the most of it.
Just gotten home from an awesome fortnight. Even though the great big trough parked over the top of us the entire fortnight, meaning no true seabreezes, we still managed 7 kites across 6 locations. THe advantage of being able to kite either side of the cape means on cross offshore that doesnt work on one side is perfectly kiteable on the other.
Amazing spot, and to get so much kiting in during a non windy fortnight was a boBus. For sure, those of you who are expert kiters and wanted epic down the line conditions and swell may not have been as excited, but for a confident beginner it was just amazing.
Love the place, will be back again next year for sure.
Thanks Tom for the few insights on the best places to go in different conditions.
