Those pensioners hate seeing other people have any fun. They killed the land sailing on Woodgate Beach.

Compass 33 -

alot of boat for $,but runners ?

Was very keen on that boat four years ago as it was in really nice condition. The guy sold it to someone who rang a couple of days before me but hadn't inspected yet and then strangely repurchased it back off him within a couple of months.

I think the hull is virtually identical to a Farr 1104 but with a closed transom and different deck. Both were built by Compass yachts. Obviously it carries a bit more weight than the Farr 1104 with the aft cabin and all.

This boat is owned by a long time friend of mine, also ex navy. The boat was sold not long after you looked at it. The mooring is close to the shore in front of several flash mansions with full water views. The first weekend the new owner and a handful of his friends held a raucous party all weekend! The pensioners were severely pissed off and called the heat. To pacify the locals my mate bought it straight back. I think it was probably out of his hands for a week or so. I gave my mate and the local sailmaker a hand to install the new furler a few months back. She sails well and is regularly used. It has runners but I have never seen them used.

For years before it headed south she resided in gwawley bay, georges river. The then owner put many miles on her and praised the performance.

Interesting conversion to twin wheels with nowhere to sit. An aluminium electric powered yacht would worry me with any stray current eating the hull.

Too bad you can't keep the mooring, right out front of Malcolm Turnbull's mansion, but the waiting list is only 3 now. There used to be huge waiting lists for these bays around eastern suburbs. Now you can get one in this lifetime, except for Rushcutters Bay (60) and Elizabeth Bay (33). Only Buddhists should apply for those.

Hi all

So going back to the Didi 34 yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/dudley-dix-didi-custom/225951 assuming she is well built what do you all see as the positives and negatives of her

Regards Don

without being negative or positive ......another question would be unlike fg yachts, how many ply yachts are still sitting in the drink after 50 plus years ?

Yes interesting question Don. I heard recently that polyester gelcoats prior to 1975 were far less water permeable (I heard it on YouTube so it must be right, right?). The claim was that it wasn't until '75 that they started adding fillers to the gelcoat mix, and they became more water permeable as a result. So there's another factor perhaps in the longevity question? I'm guessing the more modern ply/epoxy construction techniques are going to be longer lived given the superior water sealing properties and greater strength of epoxy.

solid FG with epoxy resin 10mm thick .......yes that will / may last longer than 50 years ......... but one layer FG with epoxy over ply , not so sure . One small pinhole or crack or leak from the top sides ,and the rot may start ? ..............hahah now i,m starting to be negative !

Yep for sure. Take your moisture meter with you and put it everywhere-especially around through hulls and through deck fittings. They are only 50 bucks on eBay.
Unless you do there is absolutely no telling what has been done to a boat in the past even if it's only five years old let alone fifty.

Hi Ramona.
I have a feeling that the depth sounder could be upgraded.

I am always in the market for flasher sounders. The one in my tender has just died. I have one that needs work for the SS34. I bought the sounder for the Currawong from the USA.

I've been watching this Duncanson Pilothouse Sloop it's dropped $70k to $50k located Sydney. From the photos I like it.

Facebook it's $50k, trade a boat $60k. Tradeaboat has better photos.
