Funnily enough this place is called "Storm Bay"
And the sea state is always confused and crappy.

Not something you see everyday.
Want to be tucked up well for this one.
Tasman Island to South East Cape for Monday

Forecast for Monday until midnight
Storm Force Wind Warning for Monday for South East Coast
Winds North to northwesterly 25 to 30 knots increasing to 30 to 40 knots in the late afternoon then turning west to northwesterly 35 to 45 knots in the late evening, reaching up to 50 knots offshore.
Seas 2 to 3 metres, increasing to 3 to 5 metres by early evening.
Swell Southwesterly 2 to 3 metres inshore, increasing to 4 to 6 metres offshore.
Weather Cloudy. 95% chance of showers in the evening. The chance of a thunderstorm at night.

So in Tasmania that 40% warning actually means what it says likely to see sustained 75 knots in open waters.

Eek!

Yep, we're at anchor, up the channel, up Barnes Bay, up the Duckpond, tucked in around the corner with plenty of scope.

If we're o.k. the Manson Supreme gets my lifetime endorsement!

Not so far to go to a Hurricane warning.

Spare a thought for the Maatsuyker caretakers doing their weather observations and trying to stop their spuds being blown out of the ground. When we were there, this was weather to harvest the rhubarb and tie everything else down. The wind would blow the tops off the rain gauges.

Good choice. although just around the corner in Gentlemen's corner is less gusty but in a way more exposed.
Manson Supreme is the only choice in that part of the world.
All I ever use.
Gets through the weed and kelp best as well

You will be fine, just put on the slow cook stew and get out a bottle of nice pinot!

Oh no! We've run out of booze! Are we doomed?

Stiil, we have a nice cheese platter, we may survive.

Resupply tomorrow . Hooray.

a few posts ago I mentioned the importance of a barograph if cruising in Tasmania.
Here is a shot from a few years ago.
But check the observations at Matsyker over the last 24 hours and compare wind speed and pressure.
