Any reliable info out there
Be careful mate bought the Ltd Edition 8.9 and it was stickered up with the Allwave specs, around 25 ltrs difference, may not be a problem to some but he was buying on ltrs so it was not really what he was after.May have been just a one off.

What...
Keen to hear any feedback too. Riding the 2017 8'8" model in clean conditions only (hard work at 90kg with the super low rails but ohhh so sweet when your on a wave!)

Fepsi, I hear the new prowave has had its rails pulled back up a bit and is a lot more stable esp at 90kg
But no real feedback

From what I'm told the 8,5 has plenty in it for 90+ kg and is a lot more stable than the previous 8,8
Not released yet. I tried it a few weeks ago.
Maybe call your dealer for the details but we can't put it on the www yet.
Would you please update...

When you say a lot more stable are you just referring to the 8,9 or also the 8,5 at 90kg
First surf this morning on the 8'9" 30.5 120l
Rider 90kg int. Beach break, full 2' with howling side shores - not ideal conditions.
Compared to the same size 2015 and 2017 models, this years is more stable and easier to catch waves...actually, heaps easier to catch waves.
Not sure of the specs but I found the board quite light to carry. It feels just as light as the 110l 2017 in the surf, only way easier to get into the waves, paddle, and balance. Made a couple of moves I normally kook of late and think the extra foam and rocker has made a huge difference.
The rocker...huge rocker!! Great to surf and surprisingly still easy to paddle.
Fins are slightly larger, which suits me. 5" up from 4.75"
Super stoked! Surf is on the rise overnight and will post another review in better conditions.

Sounds like you could of gone the 8,5 at 108 litres
Righto...2 more surfs this morning. Solid 3' beach break freight train this morn. The board seems to accelerate over whitewater both when paddling out and surfing. My speeed flies over whitewater paddling out, but this feels different - the nose just cuts through and floats on top of the whitewater easier than any other board i have ridden. Great in the surf riding over sections.
Had a 2nd surf straight after. Point break, choppy solid 2' head high, backwash and choppy. Board rips! I struggled in choppy cond. with less litres..no problem with this board and still feels like a light shortboard.
My 2cents worth:
In the pocket - check
Late take-offs - check
Top to bottom surfing - check
Wave count - check
Paddleability (ease) - check
Speed - check
Stoke factor - check
All boxes ticked so far.

Fepsi, how easy is it to get on waves? Do you have to sit in the pocket? Any comment on comparison to the Naish Maddog would be goood? I'm looking at either for my local conditions here on Sunshine Coast where the shore break surf can be a little smaller although off Old Woman Is where I go when it picks up, which is about 1km offshore it can much more grunty. I'm a bit older and 82kg and currently ride the 2015/16 9'2"Fanatic Prowave (130l) but am looking for something a little smaller so the 8'9" (120l) seems about right.
Hey muddyisland, the 8'9" paddles in super easy in waist high to OH. Have only had 3 surfs so not much to go on, but the best shape by far for me. I was concerned it might be a little wide and corky with the extra volume but it sits in the water beautifully. Don't have to take late drops, although ain't that half the fun? Sounds like this one would be a good choice to drop down from the 9'2.
I have been on the 8,5 at 90kg and it's fine, but for you the 8,9 as Fepsi has is ideal for you.
For me on the 8,5 it's fine in some chop, but hates backwash but all sups do I guess.
Just note, prowaves are now epoxy glass not a wrap and are fragile...
Just to add another choice starboard pro 9.0 or the 9.0xl is good choice as is the smik spitfire with a fuller nose aiding in stability
I love fanatic priwaves but wish like mad they never went to glass ??

Thanks Foam and Fepsi for your feedback. I wonder if anyone from Fanatic can answer your question about the ProWave going to glass. Economics?
It's cheaper to produce, but a custom glass board is far different in strength Vs a production board from my experience.
Sorry mate fanatic won't answer this for you, IMHO it's a rather big **** up this year
supboardermag. did an extensive review on the 8'9".
Thanks for posting. Great review imo. Love the feel out in the surf!
Wondering how i would go stepping down from the 2016 8'9"prowave at 116 ltrs to the 2019 8'5" at 108 ltrs ? Unable to demo and have sold the 8'9" ready to buy but very undecided, 2019 8' 9" or the 8'5" ???? Weight 75kgs height 5'10".

Hey frosty, I am 90kg and have surfed the 8'9" 2019 in a range of conditions. Very stable for my weight in the choppiest of conditions. Possibly a little too much volume for 75kg? Hands down the best prowave i have ridden yet (3rd).
Thanks Fepsi, yeah this will be my fourth pro wave, love em, they just go great in everything,be great if I was able to demo the 8'5"

You will easily get on the 8,5 I am 90kg and it's easy as, very stable especially at your weight .
But I'm a starboard rider
