The pic below is from an interesting article about the late Geoff McCoy (RIP) by Stu Nettle on swellnet:

Anyway, there's an old surf car in there somewhere...

Nozza is back how are you mate?not classic but I joined your van gang couple of years ago
At the risk of breaking the Forum by posting something, did you shop around other brands before deciding on the Carravelle?
I'm going to update - my van is 14 years old now - and I wonder about the other vqans in the market.
I have seen Kias that look pretty cool
Probably a Multivan, not quite sure yet
I've still got my Caravelle I'll wait until the T7 comes out and see if it's any good

Paid down my deposit on a LWB Multivan today. 5 year warranty and 5 years free servicing.
Run out special but the dealer said it could be 12 months before they see a T7.
Doing some internet looking it is a very different van.
Getting excited about what fit out I will do on the new one

Keep us posted please Nozza. Your previous van, skateboard, road trip, shed activities, miscellaneous and paddling threads have been some of the very best stuff posted on here over the years. Woot!
Got the new van. Love it. Things have come a long way in the 14 years since the old one was made. Unsure what I am going to do with the fitout but I don't think I need the almost full camper, kitchen, bed set up I had. As a start I'm keeping it as a 5 seater, removing the two individual seats and moving the 3 seater bench foward. I've bought some waterproof carpet, and made some mats. Will try and keep major sand out of the front of the van - the old one was pretty disgusting at the end with sand from roof to floor from me and the dog.
With the 3 seater bench where it is there is still 1850mm behind it so I have room to set up a bed there. Have started to look at the back, setting up some hanging racks. I like to keep all my gear, wetsuits, towells, paddles, boards etc in the van so I don't have to prepare for a trip to the beach - everything is there. Need roofracks at the moment.
But the fridge is in!
I've always wanted van, but in WA a 4WD is more of a necessity for me.
i dram of being able to kit out a big space to take everything.
The Multivan comes in 4wd as the 4 Motion option.
I would love one but would hate to think of the cost.
Older Toyotas that weren't officially imported in to Aus, maybe the Delica, were 4wd.
After a lifetime in Toyota 4wd vehicles, the VW Vans are much better for what I do now
Oh yeah
Knew you'd like that one mate
Who wouldn't it's a FORD
