Sad news.
No body lasts forever.
Time waits for no one. And it won't wait for me... Rolling Stones...
Just checking, now that it's closer, if anyone is planning to come to OB's place for a beer this coming Sunday.
If you are, please PM me for the address details.
On another note, there are some surfboards for sale too.
10'2" Yellow Soul Surf
10'0" White DJB
9' White DJB
10' Robert August Tuflite with Endless Summer motif
Unfortunately I'm unable to attend MR, but please have a beer for me in OBCT's honour.
No worries Mac, it seems like I'm gonna get pretty tanked.... I have been asked to have a beer in OB's honour by a lot of blokes! hic.....
Cheers for Obct's piss up today I'm sure there will be lots of laughs,banter and some classic stories told. One hell of a great guy much love mate.
Nice gesture Mac, wish I could have joined them to enjoy the stories.
Mate sad case of should have woulda I was so keen on going down but didn't, I had no idea he wasn't hanging in he always said yeah I'm good coming good.
Big fella got a nice shoutout from his board maker.
Yes, I spoke to Dan this morning, he didn't know about Ian.
I called him, because we needed a value on this gorgeous DJB Medusa Ian had made a while back. Dan was really good to talk to and from OB's accounts, a great shaper.
On other matters, the memorial at his house yesterday saw about 40 people sharing a video and some stories. His family have been overwhelmed by the love they've felt from here and from the local lads at Collaroy. There were 8 locals, plus other mates and family. A great afternoon.
I even got to read one of my favourites, and I know he liked it, because he'd heard me do it before.
Next I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a gray dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.
