Hey Cobra,

The main difference comes from the smaller generation 4 Bosch motor which allows shorter chain stays but slacker head angle.
The motor doesn't have the drag when pedal assistance finishes at 32 km.Wheels gone to 29" x 2.6.
Price dropped from NZD 8500 to 6999. A mate brought the Rail 9 for 8500 down 1000.

I looked at Merida e160 (27.5 rear and 29 front) and kona remote ( was 7k with 27.5 x 2.8 tyres with really short chain stays but extra wide rear hub).

The Power fly has bigger price drops but wanted a current geometry bike and with low centre of gravity it feels awesome on the downs

Full review coming

How is the following for political correctness

"Mountain Biking Otago has been ordered to rename three of its tracks after the Dunedin City Council deemed them inappropriate. The Mrs, The Mistress and Ginger Cougar on Signall Hill in Dunedin will be replaced with more appropriate names approved by the council"

Hey just ridden the Mrs and off to ride the Ginger Cougar

Had my Trek Rail 7 E bike for a while and the whole e mtb is just awesome

Ridden in mixed groups and just use the lowest power setting and still good workout and always advantage on uphill with the fittest rider.
On the down trails the low center of gravity is great as you carry momentum and flow.
Have a really good rider on "huff and puff" to stay on your tail.
If one of your riding mates is felling buggered then swap for section and put in higher power to give him a rest.
On a wider fire road uphill section stick in turbo and give a mate a tow.

I've done rides with just e bikes and that's where its too much fun making some trails that were hard work a pleasure.
Generally using second power mode but easy to change from tour to emtb if need it.
I've only used Turbo on steep climb that I would have pushed or if heart starts to afib can take it easy.
If you are thinking of e bike then try one

loving my bike atm just did 33k this arvo, getting some fitness in and loving my Garmin fenix5
loving what I'm seeing at time in the heart rate zones. and getting the appropriate spikes when under load on hills.
Avg heart at 111 bpm went up to 137 bpm = average speed 21.0 kmh for 33 km.

anyhow thought you may be interested with your condition, great watch 10/10

Plus one for e Mtb. New trails in Dwellingup are sensational. Taken 2 weeks ago. Govt has been putting a lot of money into new trails.
Merida e160 800. Had it 2.5 years now

Hey Cobra, that's a good ride and like the stats, the Garmin's look awesome. Is that still on your hardtail?

I brought a Samsung Active 2 LTE version. It gives me heart rate and pattern so helps me identify when in Afib. The main reason being self employed was to not miss calls or email when on the water and have better work life balance. Ok can see missed call, go in and call back and talk to customer.
In South Korea it's been approved and show doctors but it's not a medical device.
In Auckland its going to rain solidly for next 3 days so no riding soon.

Hey Twimby nice e bike and trails - enjoy

Cool mate sounds like a good watch same as mine a lot of data and features tells my golf yardages ect ect.
still the hard tail, canyon didn't email me when the bike was ready so I missed out. Can't believe they did that.
well now just about everything is sold out worldwide seems to be a bike explosion. Now for a new bike thats if any are around probably will have to wait for 2021 models and thatS depending On what's made available to the Australian market. I'm budgeting around 8k looking at A specialised levo ,trek rail and Scott genius And don't think canyons spectral e bike is sold to Australia. Btw the Trek specialised And Scott are all sold out.

I was in a Trek store today, manager said Trek have over 13,800 current backorders from their Australian dealership stores on order with the factory, he said that figure didn't include privately owned bike shops that also sold Trek. I did manage to fluke a 2021 Trek FX3 hybrid that came in this week that was supposed to be a large but ended up being an XL and I ride an XL. Right place right time.
