Don't they puncture the bag? I've used the technique without bagging in the past for replacing strap inserts.

Yeah, I had the same Idea, though a touch to late for this one since I have already done the lamination of the deck, I had to rely on measurements and use a small drill to tolerate few mm error...it went well but I would prefer the sticks next time :-)
Nice!, you completed your second board while I am still on my first complete board, applying microbaloons putty is so time consuming!...I will finally get there...someday :-) One of the most time consuming actitvities as well is to wait for resin to cure, how could you be so fast? These days I need to wait 2-3 days each time I resin
I wait after resin 15-24 hours. And i work at the bottom and the other day on top.
What kind of finishing/painting do you use? Do you do antiskid with the same?

This is my custom foilboard for 2023. Wind and Wing. So excited about that
Nice how boxy the rails are considering the presence of the chines
Coolmove nice build. I like matching colors. Interesting to see how that narrow tail turns and goes upwind.

Nice board Pat - I've seen similar bottom shapes on SUP downwind boards.
Be interested to hear if it glides up easier on the central section in light winds.
Hi coolmove, very Nice built!
This looks like a very small board
What dimensions and volume is this and can you uphoul the rig?

Thank you,
170 cm x 65 cm and maybe 90-100 l
Uphoul the rig is possible but with 90 kg you sink to the ground??
Finally I got it done: 190x71x130 ish liters still awaiting to receive antitwist for footstraps...it took me quite a while to make it but the result is nice, I hope will be good in the water and the air too,...I hope to hit the water soon!

This is my new board 190 cm X 71 cm x125-130 liters very long flat section (till mast base), moderate V, slight flat into double concave into flat from the front.
Here in the pictures is compared with my older board which is longher, wider with much deeper double concave and shorter flat section. Deck is flatter on the new design, volume distribution much towards the back (there are 80 liters behind the mast track), mast track position is 5 cm more vs the back on the new one, though still I can get up to 119 cm from the stern to explore high speed lock-in config., much more parallel outline vs old one. edges wise the old ones where tucked under much more, the new ones are fuller and sharper, just a touch tucked under in the front.
this board should:
-be more actively driven in tacking off, but volume should allow to pump from rest to flight speed being in the straps
-be more powerfull going upwind given the rear higher width
-be more agile being more compact overall
-be more versatile given the inboard straps option and various position for the straps so to experiment with various position with respect to foil and sail mast base.
I hope I will be able to test it soon to confirm such expectations, the minimum I wish is that is better vs the old one for what I whant to do now.I also got an 800 cm2 front wing to experiment with bigger sail/smaller foil combo; I should be faster at the expence of higher speed take off, I should also be able to manage my quiver more conveniently, should the wind pick up I can remain with same sail size and drop the size of the front wing...hope so.
Whish to thank all of you that helped me answering questions and providing support and feedbacks, they all have gone somehow into this design and making effort. THANK YOU!
Edoardo
After a few days with my new board, i can say, i am happy with it. It works great
Cool! Can you share the design of the board and why you headed into that direction? From what i see: quite low volume, narrow tail, wide nose, what about volume distribution/thickness, What is the board best for, what are the drawbacks? Yust curious to know and compare to follow your route one day.
cheers

Thank you.
I just started building without a plan. I wanted a small board that looks cool and fits well in a car. i think i made it. It is perfect for freeride. Once you've made the start, the board is just a stand anyway. Small Board makes the foil more manoeuvrable.

Don't you feel the lack of width on the back foot for going upwind?

No, it works perfect going upwind.

Oh, I felt was lacking some width on mine and made my new board 65 cm wide on the back, and it works...that is probably related to sail size...and skills, for what I see you have few session on top of mines under your belt :-)

Edoardo,
Congrats on your build! Fantastic work!
Tail width is very much related to sail size. If your biggest sails are in the 5 meter range you really don't need tail width for getting upwind. Tail width is a very good thing for stability though! I ride with big wings and small sails, I'd say about 90% of the time I ride with the toes of my back foot on centerline while going upwind. Only in 10-14 knots of wind on my big sail a 5.2 will I move my back foot out on the rail. When powered up there are times when my back foot is actually slightly downwind of centerline while sailing upwind! I notice that when sailing in the waves, particularly side shore where I am surfing the wave to get upwind. I also take that stance sailing upwind in confused chop or when my front wing is too big but I just keep riding it.
I built a board a handful of years ago that was a shortened version of the race board designs, 83 cm wide at the tail with outboard straps. When I sailed it with my 7.5 it felt perfect in all conditions and I was amazed at how much sail the width allowed me to carry. With the 4.5 I often had too much leverage while sailing off the wind and had to take an uncomfortable stance to balance it. That board and the experience of creating it was so worth it! Even though I ride something completely different now I learned a ton and it helped me decide where I wanted to go with my gear.
I bet you're gonna love your new board! You have designed a board that will give you options to explore different styles. Go ride it like you stole it and then tell us about it!
