Ok lets not get distracted Daffy. Every body focus on LG delivering once again for another year. Hopefully see you all in a couple of weeks. Cmon Huey, Deliver!!!!
Just what the doctor ordered, these temps will evaporate some water
Not good for my little plants Choc
What a weird season. This long weekend is the first weekend I haven't sailed since November. Thanks for the update TB.
Thanks for the update AH.
Perhaps the flatter water was closer to the western shore?
Looks like I will see you late next week.
Is it possible to sail a little less rakes fins at higher levels? If so, you could get more lift and potentially compensate for the higher waves? Or is this a dumb question and there is a shifting point from the glass like situation to high waves. Where we sail grass only covers the bottom and you can ride up to 40cm PWA slalomfins in summer, but still chop goes down substantially compared to the non grass situation in winter and spring. Just curious and I would love to read more on the way Lake George works.

Maybe, you would drag a lot of weed for a few 100 m but then you might be ok. I do run a 30 deg fin which is ok for all but the thick stuff

Yes, when the water is a bit above the weed there is no need for extreme rake fins and it is a litle bit more efficient.
Some parts of the lake are deeper and if there is more than 20-30 cm over the weed it gets a bit too choppy there for fast speed runs and safety at speed downwind, Still OK crosswind. Early season last year I rode 30-40 rake find exclusively and they were fine for me. very late season when the water had dropped a lot more, the weed became much thicker on the surface, and even with a 50 rake fin was I feeling the drag.

That looks to me like 10-15 cm difference. A day of good SE wind would drop that back pretty quickly I think.
The only question is if the weed is the same length as last year?
OK, THATS IT, I CANNOT COPE WITH THIS ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!
See you all on Sunday
Frothie froths over!!
Some pictures and vid from 01-02-19. I grabbed the camera just in tome to get the last runs of Artur and George.
Looking great Guys.
Opps, running out of laptop battery. More tomorrow.
Challenging and choppy as out there yesterday. Previous pics were from the flatwater at the Spit.
Great shots !
Non Budgie'its would still call that pretty flat water Sue. The L. Illawarra guys would probably call it smooth.
Still good enough for the girls to do 35's and some little old man did a 39 there.
But behind the Spit was the go yesterday for sure.
Did you see THAT!
When you get to here the wind stops suddenly!
De-rigging in a slick with 25Knots of wind 10 meters away!
With a bit of luck see you all Tuesday Afternoon, Train arrives Adelaide about 8am, so I'll drive straight to LG, shall I drive straight to The SPIT?

Did that trip did it a few years ago with a car loaded on the back, saved the drive. Was 43C when we left Perth. Private cabin was fantastic and incredible view out the panoramic window. Love the stop in Cook to drop off supplies for the old caretaker. Three days of bliss...hypnotised by the clickety clack of the rails!
Here's the toy I loaded on the back.
Roo why have I got saliva dripping from the side of my mouth?
