A huge thanks to our sponsors The Windsurfing Shed & Wicked Promotional products who are back supporting us making some new shirts for the series which look fantastic.
Not forgetting to also thank Windsurfing NSW , Stormriders and the members of Marmong Point Sailing Club.
A huge thanks to Gazza at Myall shores for supporting windsurfing NSW, this is a beautiful park where we can rig and sail straight from your camp site. It will be a terrific weekend where we are all together which is what the GPS series is all about.
WINDSURFERS please note accommodation is selling fast, you MUST BOOK ASAP or you will miss out and have to travel from outside the area. Please tell them you are a windsurfer so you get your discount and they know how many windsurfers there are supporting them.
So book NOW and come along and enjoy sailing in a new spot in fresh water, no weed and up to 3km long runs with friendly windsurfers.
Thanks Byron we're really looking forward to the weekend.
To get the discount, book directly with the park - 02 4997 4457 and ask for Gary.
The discounted rates are:
Campsites $27.20 per night
Cabins $182.50 per night (2 adults, kids slightly extra)
Keen but won't be well in time.. . If I'm super lucky that date may be the first time I can try and get on a board and sail ..
Just spent the weekend in a cabin and Sailed straight from my unreal cabin where we will be holding the GPS weekend in November.
First time here wow what a place but I will be back for sure. Fresh water, no weed, sandy bottom, and you stand up around most of the lake and runs that just go for ever what the hell’s not to like about it.
This place gets wind that’s for sure, as seen on Saturday and seems I am one of the only people that sailed today.
The runs are over 3,5 km long and when it’s not that windy it is unreal.
Wow what a place I think given a wind that’s consistent "not a westerly" the NSW hr record could go here.
So happy the cabins are new and clean and the family were very happy and can’t wait to come back.
The camping sites are shady , big and on the water’s edge and they have put all the windsurfers together.
We even had a possum come and sit on our lap last night whilst having dinner.
The staff were so friendly and helpful and the café food looks and tastes fantastic.
A reminder to people you need to book accommodation it’s running out very fast you won’t be able to wait until the last minute.
This will be an event to not be missed and is planned to be total fun and a great social event.
Unreal glad you are coming but don't want to be a salesman lol.
Not having sailed there before we we're concerned but I am not now very happy as I have expressed like a salesman lol.
We spent most of our school holidays camping at mungo, not at mungo brush camp site that's were
the yuppies would go, we were up in white tree bay or along there, was heaps more camp spots
20yrs ago. would go over the punt to the shop & get supplies. was up there for a day trip 2 weeks bak,
hasn't changed much but there was weed there. night time fun was using left overs to catch eels that
live under the bank, don't see them during the day, they fight like mad.
see every 1 there for a great weekend.

Byron's talking re Wallis lakes up near Forster Rus. I agree I've had some great times at Mungo - including one moonlit sailboard..
Hi sue, Rus is right, we're actually going to mungo/myall lakes this time. Forster was great last year but we had an opportunity to try something different. It's going to be a great summer!

Hey Nigel,

Saturday Westerly - www.ka72.com/Track/t/286327
Sunday Noreaster - www.ka72.com/Track/t/286329
Gday everyone,
The Myall Lakes weekend is finally here! We have over 25 people already confirmed to come, and with some wind in the forecast, it's looking like it will be an awesome event.
** ENTRY **
Entry fee for the whole weekend is $30, or $80 covers you for the remaining 3 events of the series (save $10). It would help us a lot if you could sign up beforehand (and pay via direct deposit) at:
docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfX2I7B5CR-0j_mssQZQODQ0GFrY0v7aXXZCp59kFJGOs9e6w/viewform?c=0&w=1&usp=send_form
If you've already registered/paid for the series, there's no need to re-register. Just turn up
** EVENT SCHEDULE **
Friday 11th Nov:
Check in and set up camp/cabins
6pm - Dinner at Barefoot Cafe then drinks around the campsite
Saturday 12th Nov:
10am Registration for those not already paid/registered online - look for the white gazebo and blue Marmong Point Sailing Club flags/banners.
11am Briefing and pick up T-shirt for those who don't have one already
12pm First possible 30 min race.
6pm - After sailing we'll head over the Barefoot cafe at the park for dinner then share drinks and laughs at the campsite until Byron's esky runs out of home brew.
Sunday 13th Nov:
Briefing some time after 9am - will be advised Saturday night.
** ACCOMMODATION/TRAVEL DETAILS **
In terms of accommodation, the park tells us there are still some unpowered camp sites available. Call them directly to book (02 4997 4457). You can also stay down in Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest and drive up to Myall Shores (20 mins drive + 2 min ferry ride - $6 each way).
When coming to the park, we recommend travelling in via Bulahdelah, as the ferry from the Mungo/Hawks Nest side only runs 8am-6pm and trailers are an extra $6 each way (total $12 each way).
For those who can only come up for the day, or aren't staying at the park, check in at the front office when you arrive (tell them you're there for the Windsurfing Event) and they'll give you a day pass with code for the boom gate. There's no charge for this.
Apart from the park's cafe (open from 10am-7pm) there isn't a lot around, so make sure you stock up on food/beer at Bulahdelah (IGA open 7am-7pm) or Tea Gardens (Coles) before heading to Myall Shores.
** PRIZES **
As mentioned in an earlier post, we have two awesome accommodation vouchers to give away as "lucky door prizes" - valued at $600 and $450 each. Everyone who attends the event across the weekend will be entered in the draw, and we'll pull out the lucky winners at the briefing on Sunday morning.
We also have bottles of wine for the winners of the Freerace and Handicap divisions.
Thanks again to series sponsors The Windsurfing Shed (Remi - Exocet, S2Maui, Mauisails) and Wicked Promotional Products (Andrew D), together with event sponsors Myall Shores Holiday Park and Barefoot Cafe.
Look forward to seeing everyone over the weekend!
Cheers
James
Hi George. Byron sailed there with a pointer and no problems a few months ago. Throw them in the car if you have them handy but don't think you'll need them.
Anyone going up Friday? I am planning to go & hopefully make my rebut in the nor'easter on Friday arvo. Tibor also.

The forecast is shaping up to be warm and sunny. Steve L has already grabbed pole position at his campsite, and sent us a few photos.
Safe travels to everyone and see you up there.
What a spot view from the cabin
Weekend shaping up nicely so come along don't say next time because you don't know say let's go.
Just been informed that there are 2 safari tents and a spa villa have become available at Myall Shores for the weekend!
Any wave sailing up there? I'll be up this weekend and will drop in for a visit, but I'm a wave sailer and looking for some cross off conditions?
Great day at myall shores today but unfortunately not quite enough for racing. We tried twice but the whitecaps faded quickly.
25 people signed on this morning and everyone is enjoying this beautiful place. Fingers crossed for more wind tomorrow.
