I've ordered a 10-14 knot NE for Sunday races at KCC.
19th March, race start time 13:00. Briefing at Noon.
The cat club runs traditional upwind course racing normally so be prepared for some long runs upwind and back to finish in front of the club.
trailer parking is actually encouraged!
Thanks to everyone for pushing through the jelly fish at KCC. The wind was about 2 knots too light but the conditions were very pleasant if a little hot. Score sheet for the race is pending.Photos are being extracted from my GoPro tonight!
I have a few notices as the summer season wraps up.
NSW state foiling series.
We are hoping to have a makeup race on the 1st OR 2nd April at Marmong Point, Lake Macquarie. The Race up there last time was epic! Wind forecast dependant. TBC.
Club races
SGSC is running a last race on this Saturday. They have a sailboard/foil start for 2 races from 2pm.
KCC run a few more events on Sunday's. Next friendly events are
23rd April, start time 12:00
30th April, start time 12
Let me know if you're interested in any of these.
Winter Races
Winter can get pretty quiet. I think it would be nice if between us we could get a monthly event run with a forecast dependent date. Let me know in this thread or privately what you think
Thanks
Berowne
Kurnell Cat Club turned on a beautiful day for us.
They were running the club championship round so longer course of 3 laps was set and the forecast 10-14 knot forecast felt more like 6-12 on the water, making flight time a little problematic without big gear and perfect technique.
We had a good turnout of 11 foils on the water (and about the same number of cats), and probably double the number of jelly fish as we sliced our way across the Bay.
There is RPAYC winter series in starting in june for anyone interested.
probably course racing but could be slalom with the wazps.
Best launching for foils is at BYRA.
Hi All,
I've just updated the Series results to include Sunday's racing (race). To view, please go to the "Windfoil and Wingfoil" section of the WindsurfingNSW web site and click through to Results: www.windsurfingnsw.com/classes/windfoil/
Please let me know if you spot any clangers.
Thank-you to Berowne for organising and to KCC for hosting Round 6. Great venue and well organised... just a shame about the wind. And thank-you to everyone for turning up - it's the biggest fleet we've had in a while. Looking forward to banging out 5 races on 1 Apr.

Thanks for the results Dave.
Waiting for the 1st & 2nd forecast to see if these dates are viable.
In the meantime, here is a 3-lap race video...
Hi everyone. Round 5 rescheduled!

www.windsurfingnsw.com/series-entry-portal/
Registration 10-11am
Briefing 11am
First Possible Race 12 noon
See you there!
Thanks to MPSC for hosting the make up round.
For those of you who missed it, we had a strong turnout today with 12 foils and 7 windings (thanks to Dave Sorenson local dealer for organising them!). The $20 first time entry fee proves to be helpful.
Wind went from 8 to 18 knots just as we started race one so a lot of people quickly changed gear.
The bbq and diet dosas making for a friendly way to wrap up the series.
Results and trophies are pending!
NSW State Wind Foil Round 5
This was a make-up race which was held at MPSC with a solid fleet of 19, including 7 Windwings.
Big thanks to Geoff and Glenn ran the start boat and had a long wait for the wind, we were ready by noon, but didn't start until 2pm when we ran a single lap race as the wind was hovering at the minimum 8knots.
However just as the flag dropped the Southerly finally arrived in earnest, overpowering a lot of the sailors by the end of the race.
It was great seeing a mixed fleet on the start line which was too close to shore to be honest, but made for easy starts with just 30s runup to the line.
I tried a port-start which was ill-advised as I had to tack very early, after crossing the line behind the front-runners.
Justin used his superiour upwind skills to good effect on each leg...
Justin ahead of Dave towards the top with Byron off screen and me (Berowne) chasing close behind.
Young vs young-at-heart. Tibor vs someone (A52) on windwing.
Young vs young-at-heart. Tibor vs Dave Sorensen on windwing.
Dave had a good day winning all races in his division! Big thanks to Dave Sorenson for bringing so many windwingers to the event, most for their first race! His shop, Foil Board Sports is part of Kite & SUP. See
foilboardsports.com.au
Windfoils still have the advantage over Windwings... but for how long??
Duotone battle... Dave leading Byron to the top mark
James locked in upwind!
Ian cranking it with Dave in sight...
Dave had a 'mixed' day... winning some but having a BIG OFF downwind as the wind and swell rose up (1m at the biggest). He lost a boom clamp rope affecting 2 rounds.
Roger beat me to the top mark, but I had more speed downwind, catching him and Justin by the line!
Close race for 2nd place at the 'holly wood finish'
I squeezed past Justin (despite 3 broken battens!)
Byron did well on his new F4, despite this being the first time he tried sailing the course racing foil! A few more practice sessions over the off-season and he is going to be quick!
Poor start strategy cost me... and sail facing the wrong way on half the legs made speed hard to attain....
Justin had great upwind angles but was over-loaded downwind!
Roger held the 9.5 all day! Well done.
Tibor coming down for a gybe.... with the boys watching from the start boat.
I had suffered a mast snap while waiting, and didn't notice that 3 battens had also broken so made a quick dash in to change from 10.0 to 9.1 and most of the fleet changed either a sail, wing or foil! Some going down to as little as 4m!
The later races thined the fleet as the wind built. 9m sails could have been swapped to 8 in some of the gusts but overall probably best to stay on the 9 as I did.
The swell got large in the middle of the bay. I had a few high moments, and Byron got launched... downwind he tapped the top of a wave, breached, got air and landed it! Nice one. I need to learn that skill...
Thanks to Byrce for the video footage of race 1! There could be some more photos from Glenn on the boat.
Hi All,
Thank-you to MPSC for hosting the rescheduled Round 4 of the WNSW yesterday (1 Apr), to the Wingfoilers who joined us and for the wind for turning up (maybe a bit too much).
I've posted the preliminary Series results, which include races 2 to 4 from yesterday, on the WindsurfingNSW web site. To view, please go to the "Windfoil and Wingfoil" section of the web site and click through to Results: www.windsurfingnsw.com/classes/windfoil/
I've also posted the results for Rounds 4 and 5, which both had races that weren't included in the Series, for anyone interested in those results. (This may also be of interest to sailors who may have changed fleet/division over the course of the series.)
Please let me know if you spot any clangers.
Thank-you to Berowne and everyone involved with organising the 2022-23 Series, to all the host clubs and to all the competitors!
