Tried the sail again with a 60% Naish mast. Gusty 13 to 16kts ish . It was worse. I adjusted everything and when I maxed down and outhaul , lowered the boom and used the lower clew eyelet , it reduced the power a lot and made it more stable , but lost a lot of power and still fought me in the big gusts .It felt the same as with the NP mast, but the cams didn't rotate nicely as with the NP mast. So, there must be some difference in the masts. The sail moved around so much. And in a gust, it would pull at my back arm with power that I had to wrestle, but the board would hardly go faster. I maxed out at a measly 23kts. If I was on my V8 it would have been around 27. There were a few good gusts in flattish water to give it an honest go. A 100% carbon Duotone mast may have been better. I have tried to give a fair review coming from an average skilled heavyweight. It really wasn't fair though because I tested it today not liking it to start with . I just think this sail is not good being overpowered for heavy me. I believe for a lighter sailer using it in lighter wind, it won't move around so much.
Can't wait for my new NP to arrive.
Used the sail today again in a steady 12 to 15 kts with minimal downhaul. It had power to get going but was slow. Even when bearing off in gusts the back hand loaded up and it didn't go much faster. I have now tried it in every which way, and I think it dislikes me as much as I dislike it. Mabee it's a good sail, the write ups say it is, and I just don't get it ? Mabee it doesn't like pushing my fat ass around. The V8s think I'm skinny and handsome , they like me
I wonder why the previous owner only used it three times before selling it ?
Interesting. Having read the thread and all that you have tried, can't say I have any suggestions on what else to try apart from the correct mast but it might just be that you are used to the v8s and this is just different. I sail Warps, currently only up to 8.4 but at 100kg could do with a bigger one at times but am actually not so keen on the heavier warp in this sort of size... so if your selling it send me a pm with the price and we can chat :)
I have tried many sail on many mast and many mast on many sails and nothing compares to the correct one ,
i found North now Duotone the fussiest to match other mast ,I'm not surprised the Naish mast was awful .
I think you need to go back to NP . or buy a duotone mast ,
being a larger sail it will be the mast that is the feel .I am lucky I was a North man and kept my expensive north
masts as they work well with my ezzy's but never had luck with mixing NP with North ,they always feel average .
Rigged ok but felt sheet to sail especially in the gust ,just warping out of shape ,the NP mast where just too soft .
I just couldn't get any drive out of the north using NP either ,so how much you want for it ?
OK, so I've used it a few more times. All in marginal wind. I'm squeezing more speed out of it, 24 kts so far. It's a different animal to any other sail I have used. So, I am the problem ?. The sail needs to be raked right back to get the board to go. Because I'm so hefty it's hard to do this in light wind and I'm twisting myself. A lighter person would be more in this natural position. The V8s will go fast standing upright as well as hanging off the back. I think it's more my weight and me being a squid that is the problem, not so much any mast mismatch.
Hey Imax1. Hold on to your sail. It is the last one of its kind.
I was waiting for the 2023 Space range. Was exited when i saw the first pictures on the Duotone website. Finally some decent colors. Awesome looking sail. Just to be disappointed, when i scrolled down, to see the new range ends at 8.8m. What a shame. Sorry Duotone. You lost me on this one. 9.3 is my most used sail after all and i need a replacement for my worn RamF14. Have a 7.8 Space already, so i was all in for the 9.3.
I mean, really? Has everybody gone wing or foil or both, except for the two of us? No market for big (fin)sails anymore? Well, I know the answer. Everybody has gone wing or foil.... but me.
Went for a 9.5 Gunsails Vector after 15 Years of North/Duotone.... feels sort of like cheating.... But its exciting! New season, new sail.
Anyway. Just wanted get rid of my disappointment for Duotone killing big sails.

but yes not many big sails needed theses days with foiling ,but you will still find them if you look .
Remember that 1980's advert.
"if it's not on then it's not on."
the guy that wrote that was actually a windsurfer talking about using the right mast.

Too late . It's gone , waiting for my new NP V8 9.4 to arrive . Should be here before the sea levels rise too much.
