Being 64 3/4 years of age my taste in music mostly turns to blues but I try not to let my thoughts stray to "what could have been" too much.

The following is titled "The Blues Roots of The Rolling Stones" and that is pretty much what it is.

If you have ever watched many of the Keith Richards interviews you might recall that he ran into Mick Jagger on a train or bus one night and said he was carrying a most stealable collection of blues vinyls from the early black American blues artists.

That was the start of the Rolling Stones.

For those that wish to contribute to this thread, I ask that you don't just blast it with videos of your latest choice in music is as gestalt has a tendency to do.

Let's make this thread an interchange of musical tastes and ideas with a bit of input from yourselves about the history of the music and why you like it so much.

Cheers Cisco.

Daryl Hall has networked with a whole bunch of different musicians from way back like Joe Walsh to contemporary artists like Train.

His web site "Live from Daryl's House" is terrific and a place where one can find some of the best music around. It is archived and has a lot more than just the music. Interviews, cooking sessions and much more. Check it out here:- www.livefromdarylshouse.com/welcome.html

That was amazing southace. Didgeridoo, sitar, electric guitars and various drums in one band. Thanks for the post.

big fan of the stones of Mick Taylor's years.
the one thing very annoys me though . in all the live videos from that era Keith is hardly seen. Its Mick J all the time and sometimes Mick T. jeez. I would punch all those idiots who were giving the cameras.

Last interview I watched with Keith Richards (I think he is the only one that enjoys interviews) he said their plan was to rock till they drop, see how far they can push it.

That.....is commitment.

Probably the most honest rock musician in an interview.

That clip with Norman Gunston and Frank Zappa is classic.

Well I have something really special for you guys tonight, even though it is only Thursday.

Ghost Road is a Newcastle area band that I have been in love with for about 10 years. Two of the band members are brothers and their family home is on, you guessed it, Ghost Road. They are amazing blues guitarists and pretty good singers too. The back up musicians are first class, in particular, the drummer. They even play with two drummers sometimes.

Ages ago I signed up to Reverbnation. Today I got a couple of emails from them announcing two upcoming Ghost Road concerts. One at the Wicko, Newcastle this Sunday night and the other at The Bonny hills Beach Hotel, tomorrow week. If any Seabreezers are in the area, they should go to the concerts.

Anyway, the emails had a link to their latest music (8 songs) so we all can enjoy it.

Two drummers.

Notice what looks like Matt Taylor peeking from behind the post just before the end. That is what he would do.

Here is they at the Broadbeach Blues Fest brought to us by our old mate Harrylegends (Harry The Hand, a legend on the Bass)

Brilliant number here.

Meet Harry The Hand. The most amazing Slap Hand Bass player you are likely to ever see.

Paint It Black.

This is what used to happen at the "Bombie". The Bombie was the temporary premises of the Story Bridge Hotel in Brisbane, bieng a demountable building placed under the bridge to trade from while the owners were getting approvals and money in place to do up the original heritage listed hotel.

Lil Fi and the Delta Rhythm Kings were resident band there for two years. For a blues number this guy, Steve Lott, is hard to beat.

At 65, my blues roots go pretty far back, this is one of my favorites from 1967 when I was just 17.
T.B. Sheets by Van Morrison, it grabbed me when I first heard it, and it still grabs me today.
