I am thinking about the straps that you can see in many of the NASA videos that are tied to the astro nots waists - no smoking gun there i hear you say.

I'm thinking about the stupidest people I've ever dealt with.

The harnesses that NASA use in their staged set videos, logic tells me they use the Flying Objects brand?

I do not pretend to know how the whole thing works but a spinning ball.....come on.

If you don't see how a ball earth in space can work.

What shape do you think it is?

Try to think of all the evidence you have observed during your life and apply that to the model you're thinking of.

Think about your time in Scotland and why the movement of Sun, Moon, Stars are so much different to Australia.

Think about how you travelled to and from Scotland, is that trip achievable on your model?

Think about Lisa Blair's circumnavigation, is that achievable on your model?

I keep seeing the word 'think'.

Are you crazy? Who wants to think when there are crackpot websites out their telling me how to think? I can see all my favorite conspiracy theories in one place and feel so special...

But I am not an Idiot!

I would reckon your God also gave you a brain, so no excuse for not using it lest you be judged by your God for wasting resources.

We have gone from just memes to memes on t-shirts now? If you are going to do that at least be kind enough to pick the ladies' t-shirts.

Although somehow I think they also will have just a flat front surface with text on it, almost as if some random person has just superimposed their own viewpoint over the top of a person wearing a t-shirt.

God does memes now too? The bible is too long for the current audience?

Is it possible to believe in the flat earth and the dome while also believing that the US government has alien bodies from that crash in Roswell?

Oh yes, very much so.

And.... if you believe the first then the logic of how you can also believe the second is irrelevant, because nuff said that you believe the first.

I asked ChatGPT, "Why are flat earthers idiots?" It responded ..."It's important to approach discussions about beliefs like flat Earth theories with sensitivity. Many people who subscribe to such views may do so out of a desire for community, skepticism of mainstream science, or distrust in authorities rather than a lack of intelligence. Instead of labeling them, it's more productive to engage in constructive dialogue, sharing evidence and fostering understanding. Promoting scientific literacy and critical thinking can help address misconceptions and encourage open-minded discussions about the nature of our world.

So I was a little more polite.

The challenges faced by flat Earthers in understanding science often stem from a combination of cognitive biases, misinformation, and a distrust of established authorities. Here are a few factors that can contribute to this phenomenon:

Cognitive Biases: Confirmation bias leads individuals to seek out information that supports their existing beliefs while dismissing evidence to the contrary. This can create an echo chamber where only flat Earth theories are validated.

Mistrust in Authorities: Many flat Earthers harbor skepticism towards scientists, governments, and educational institutions. This distrust can make them resistant to accepting scientific explanations and data that contradict their beliefs.

Misinformation: The spread of misinformation online can create confusion about basic scientific concepts. Flat Earth theories often rely on misleading interpretations of evidence or pseudoscientific arguments that can be compelling to those without a strong background in science.

Community and Identity: For some, being part of the flat Earth community provides a sense of belonging and identity. This social aspect can reinforce their beliefs and make it difficult to engage with opposing viewpoints.

Lack of Scientific Education: A limited understanding of scientific principles and methods can hinder one's ability to critically evaluate claims about the Earth and the universe.

Today I learned that, because the earth is not flat, compass needles are weighted differently for northern and southern hemispheres to avoid the "needle dip".

I am not sure that effect is solely linked to a non-flat earth surface.

If you put a magnet under a flat piece of paper you would get different dip angles in different locations across the flat paper. Didn't you do this in skool with iron filings ?.

I'd assume you could measure the dip angle across the earth's surface to determine the curavature of the surface you were on, but managing compasses for needle dip would also be required on a flat earth, assuming that flat earth was entirely within a magnetic field. It is more to do with the magnetic field characteristics than the surface you are stood on when you measure that field.

Have all stated that being able to visit Antarctica and demonstrate the lack of midnight sun in summer would prove the Flat Earth.

Strangely

All declined an all expenses paid trip to Antarctica.

But 3 peopwho believe that the earth is a vague globe shape are either crowd funding or self funding trips south in a couple of weeks.

Where's the conviction with these Flat Earth peeps?

Probably hiding with PCDEFENDERs answers to every single question

I saw somewhere, someone, something pitching the idea of a reality show that gets flat earth belivers to race each other in a search for the edge (not U2s guitarist, mind you that would be a Gold standard episode). The kick is that the show would never end... because... well think about it...

they,d probably get to the edge of a glacier in Antartica, and say they'd found the ice wall, that circles the edge and stops the oceans flowing over it.

The 'don't look up' scenario where the egos need to be right outweighs the opportunity to learn.
