We enjoy the best living standards in the history of the world. Better than any generations before us and it's got a lot to do with cheap reliable energy from fossil fuels.

Why don't you try living without them for a bit see how you go.

Here's a graph of arctic ice,

Thanks for demonstrating my point. The BBC fear propaganda article claimed that the arctic would be totally ice free by summer 2012/13. The truth is, as your graph shows, it is not.

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7139797.stm

Sweet bro.

BBC/ABC = Zero Credibility.

Zero Hedge = Spot On

And it didn't take 6800 narcissistic posts for us to agree.

Bull****, utter bollocks.

Which bit is bollocks? The BBC article is real brother. They published quack science based on computer model that's proven wrong by - well - reality. Perhaps my turn of phrase is colourful, but it's accurate.

More bull****. You've been sucked in by denialist bollocks. Every science source out there with very few exceptions attests to the truth of global warming. The fact that there are motivated denialists should give you the hint the ZeroHedge might be one of them. Common sense should tell you to corroborate your sources when they contradict received science. Fact check!

I don't think climate change is disputed, whats disputed is whether or not it is man made and will Net Zero stop it.

I think if you believe Net Zero is anything other than a creative accounting scheme designed to direct money to elites, your getting sucked in by denialist bollocks, that is denying its not the biggest scam in history.

It's a logical and reasonable inference that it's man made. In any case it doesn't matter whether it's firmly established that Net Zero can stop it. The precautionary principle recommends it regardless. "Biggest scam" is an unjustified assumption.

Biggest scam is not an unjustified assumption it's a logical conclusion based on undisputed facts that fossil fuels are being used in greater volumes than ever in China and India. Carbon emissions continue to climb with no end or even a slow down in growth in sight. Meanwhile we are getting told to buy solar panels and wind turbines and ev cars off those same countries who.dont give a toss for climate change and are getting rich . Meanwhile we pay more for energy and everything else reducing our standard of living with no impact, emphasis again on no impact, Zero, nil, nada on carbon emissions or climate.

Seriously you don't think that's a scam, your a fool.

You ignore the fact that China's emissions have apparently peaked last year, 5 years ahead of schedule.
Neither country's population is rich by our standards.

Brother, even if it can't be proven that humans are creating climate change there is a stronger argument to aim to keep our planet healthy and not needlesly create waste and polution for our children to clean up.

Most of the exxess CO2 we are trying to deal with now, was produced by the US and Europe. China and India are still catching up.

The per-capita contribution is the number to think about. As a rough calculation I've released about 200 tonnes of it from my own exhaust pipe. Most of it on recreational journeys. A disturbance to the equilibrium has a half-life of hundreds of years, most of mine is still up there. At least I've only recently discovered airconditioning and have yet to get a swimming pool.

Don't worry about burning your 6kg speed board when you're done with it. The CO2 is minor compared to what was released getting it to the water.

cammd,

I dunno where you get this **** from.

We need to remove all coal, oil and gas from Australia's electricty generation so we can declare we have achieved. Declare that we have arrived. That we have....... "net zero".

This will make us all feel good for a few moments. It will also make our electricty supply more unreliabale, unstable and expensive and allow us to export even more of the coal and gas we mine but don't use to other countries so they can have reliable, stable and cheap electricty networks.

Fun fact for the day :

If Australia generated 100% of its electrictiy from gas and coal, but did not export any gas or coal, then Australia would contribute less CO2 emissions to world whilst also having cheaper electricity.

But apparently it is better to do the exact opposite.

Brother, 100% agree, I'm all for doing practical stuff, plant trees, restore rivers, protect fisheries, reduce plastics etc etc. Go Nuclear FFS and have emission free energy.

Clear land for solar panels and windfarms including the massive networks of lines and roads to maintain and connect them NO. That would be questionable even of they did work.

Sign up to some international agreement that does NIL for the environment while making us poor, NO. That is stupidity.

Potentially a good argument to make.

But unfortunately you completely voided your own point by spelling "their" as "there".

Thus, this entire reasoning is now completely irrelevant to any assessment of facts.

How is more expensive electricity in Australia going to help crops in some other country? How do you draw that connection.

Seriously do you think, for example, if you buy a EV car in Australia someone in Africa will have an extra 10% harvest of potatoes. You must be a potato.

Is it that you believe your tiny contribution will have no effect. Surely not, if that were the case we could all agree Australia is such a small contributor to global CO2 levels we could just keep burning coal and be more comfortable.

So, what's the story with the aircon Ian K, are you a climate denier?
