Biggest scam is not an unjustified assumption it's a logical conclusion based on undisputed facts that fossil fuels are being used in greater volumes than ever in China and India. Carbon emissions continue to climb with no end or even a slow down in growth in sight. Meanwhile we are getting told to buy solar panels and wind turbines and ev cars off those same countries who.dont give a toss for climate change and are getting rich . Meanwhile we pay more for energy and everything else reducing our standard of living with no impact, emphasis again on no impact, Zero, nil, nada on carbon emissions or climate.

Seriously you don't think that's a scam, your a fool.

Most of the exxess CO2 we are trying to deal with now, was produced by the US and Europe. China and India are still catching up.

The per-capita contribution is the number to think about. As a rough calculation I've released about 200 tonnes of it from my own exhaust pipe. Most of it on recreational journeys. A disturbance to the equilibrium has a half-life of hundreds of years, most of mine is still up there. At least I've only recently discovered airconditioning and have yet to get a swimming pool.

Don't worry about burning your 6kg speed board when you're done with it. The CO2 is minor compared to what was released getting it to the water.

Really, airconditioning, knowing the world is on the brink already and you won't even sacrifice a little personal comfort to save it?

As long as you feel appropriately guilty when you turn it on it's all OK. Positive feedback and all! Also great to see concern about climate on a water sports forum. Can you think of any recreation which has a higher per participant carbon footprint than us? Maybe the eclipse chasers?

This is why I am happy to see that each successive human generation is measurably smarter than their parents.
For sure, I am not the sharpest potato in the field, but to think that I know better than a vast collection of the sharpest individual human minds, (albeit outside the Murdoch media bubble), who have spent their lifetimes' working on the challenges facing humanity, would be breathtaking display of deeply flawed Intellectual arrogance.

Oh FFS, if you can draw a connection between electricity prices in Aus with crop yields in sub Saharan Africa than do it. Otherwise your just talking rubbish.

Thinking for yourself is not intellectual arrogance, it's just thinking for yourself. Try it.

I'm on point brother, I smoked all you progressive leftards with my superior arguments and irrefutable logic mixed in with some subtle sarcasm and a touch of enlightenment. I even triple smoked remery but so what everyone says, well fair enough.

I only I hadn't made that spelling mistake that ruined it all.

Did you read this part or the article you linked?"Lower rates of land-use conversion and improved farm production efficiency have contributed to reduced agricultural greenhouse gas emissions."Australia, paticularly Western Australia, are leaders in precision agriculture and grain production, despite declining rainfall.

"Increased CO2 levels are likely to initially boost grain production by enhancing photosynthesis in many crops like wheat and rice, leading to higher yields; however, this increase comes at the cost of reduced nutritional quality, as the grains will contain less protein and essential minerals, potentially impacting food security, especially in regions reliant on staple grains like wheat and rice."

"Potato yields in sub-Saharan Africa range from 6 to 10 t/ha, far below attainable yields of 25-35 t/ha." That's why they grow a lot of maize and cassava. Unfortunately the USA introduced the Larger grain borer to sub-Saharan Agrica via food aid, and it has since devastated those commodities.

So last night my daughter is eating a steak, I made a comment on how good it looked, she was pleased with the way she cooked it anyway it led to a conversation on where she bought it. She bought it from Coles but it was private brand, Cleavers or something. She went on to warn me not to get home brand meat because they feed a chemical to the cow to stop them farting and thereby reduce emissions.

The supplement Bovaer found to reduce emissions from cattle burps and flatulence by up to 90 per cent, is used by Australian cattle farmers who produce Coles's "carbon-neutral" beef

I don't think Monty Python would have even thought up something this ridiculous.

This is just left virtue signalling. Why not just put the nitroxypropanol straight into the fuel tank of my car and cut out the middle man (cow)? Speaking of signalling, do reckon we could get Laurie to make a Facepalm emoji?

Yes I guessed you knew what it was, but perhaps not that it was safe. "The use of Bovaer?10 in animal nutrition has been found to be safe for consumers, and good for the environment and animal welfare. (EFSA Journal, 2021). This was supported by an assessment by the UK's Advisory Committee (Animal Feed and Feed Additives Joint Expert Group, 2023). There are several peer-reviewed studies that support this:
Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of 3-nitrooxypropanol (Bovaer? 10) for ruminants for milk production and reproduction (DSM Nutritional Products Ltd)
3-NOP: ADME studies in rats and ruminating animals
3-NOP: Mutagenicity and genotoxicity assessment
Mode of action uncovered for the specific reduction of methane emissions from ruminants by the small molecule 3-nitrooxypropanol."

Perhaps you and your daughter should be more concerned about the pesticides that are used to control internal and external parasites of cows.

Greenhouse growers seem to think so ,vast yield gains ,plant health and nutrition gains.
Also provides greater protection from heat stress by reducing leaf moisture loss as observed by global greening particulary in arid regions. All bad of coarse.
