That's where I'm at. Clearly the RS is a pretty sick winging wing. Surf, flat water pumping - pumping in general is my next enquiry. Been on the blower to a number of crew and a lot of them run different foil systems - one for winging, one for surfing/paddle etc. or they get one that maximises their fav activity and put up with limitations in other disciplines. Is this the goldilocks wing .. Or doesn't this exist.
So RS for flat water pumping Anyone secretly engaging in this activity?
I have GT1400 and RS1150 on order. Wondering if the 1150 will be a good fit for an inefficient 85kg pumper?
You know, for those days when there are no waves or wind.
I'm 85kg and on the RS1150 daily. Best of all worlds. Iv used it downwind too
Merry Xmas all!!
Hmm given the Rs1300 is very similar dims to the PNL, maybe that would be a better flat water pumping machine. I honestly don't know though as I've never tried flat water pumping.
Having said that I'm sure between the 1400/1150 you will be covered.

So maybe a 1150 / 800 Combo .
Thanks for the quick reply. For me the performance of the NL's can be broken down to pre FTS and post FTS.
Pre it was fun but always missing something. Post it was like a new foil. Totally unlocked it's potential. I know of a few crew that were running your tail setup, got the fts and haven't touched the old tail again.
I would imagine you would notice the same on the GT's.
I suspect you may be right but I do like the ability to shim the tail on the 13.5". Bought the dealers RS1300 demo a couple days ago and it is being shipped to me... perhaps I should have had the FTS put into the shipment, as well.

I'm actually a massive fan of a one something quiver. I always surfed better when I just had one board.
Foiling is no different. For 95% of what I do it will be on the 1000/fts. For the more out of the ordinary days then yep having a 1150/650 12.5fts tail in the arsenal is going to be awesome.
I'm that guy with who still takes an Allen key in the water to move my setup. So for me to say I'm stoked on a one foil quiver that does mostly everything for me is great. Play to your strengths. We have wind and waves here. If I was in Perth more then I would be sliding towards the 1150/1300.
I have RS1000 and GTS1400 and really stoked with that combo but I am 105kg+, for a lighter person RS1150 and GTS750 would be a killer combo. But I have not tried the RS600 which I fear would be a bit small for me. But you never know. Demo as much as you can.
Real first world problem
Merry Xmas everyone. Happy foiling
Well I can pretty much use the 1250 as a one wing quiver to be honest. But then again I can adjust tails and shimming based on conditions. Just spoilt for choice with other armie wings in the quiver. Recon I could make the 1000 do the same.

Demo first back-to-back with the 1250. The 1150 may be better for the tiny Mandurah waves.

I could probably have the GT1250 as a one wing quiver as well if I'm to judge based on my SlingShot 926.
All the gofoils I tried had a better low-end performance for my skill level though. So now looking to improve the pump game
and getting into sup foil downwind I feel a wider range and more low-end friendly wings will make for an easier learning curve.
Also, it's a lot more fun to have variety imo. I wasn't a one quiver board either, so now that it is far more affordable and storage
friendly to have several wings there is no chance I'll end up with one wing, especially trying to learn multiple disciplines.
In that context the 1150/1400 seem like a good addition to my quiver especially now when my 2200/1600 were adopted by my wife as a wall art
OK I am convinced, I have my credit card ready to go....why can't I find someone to take my money?
I'll take your money hahah. If you in Australia call me ????(I'm the importer )
Also RS1300 v PNL185 as Iv used both in the surf but not the 1300 DW. initial thoughts on RS was that it's a more maneuverable version of the PNL.

That's a good report. As I love hate the pnl....on the good days it's magic, but can't quite dial it in for proper waves...always feel tentative for speed breaches and turns. So...all the good aspects and improve the bad? Sounds good!

Will do although I used the 925 for some time as a one wing quiver. Recon the positive front foot pressure of the 1000 RS would be fine. Will see.
Still by far the absolute best setup I have ever used.
Such perfect little pus filled waves today. Nice long comfortable pump runs to awesome link up ripping turns as hard as my skill level allows. Repeat.
RS1000/14.5FTS/32.5 Red pilot to make the whole thing fast.
Did a downwinder tow assisted yesterday on the 1150. Clocked 48.8kmh on some of the drops. Was on a 4'10 JS, 32.5 mast and FTL here's some of what my watch got.

26 knots on 1100 cm2.... now that's moving. I've only marginally gone better on another brand at 800cm2
Question then comes - how much faster is the 650? You'd expect a dramatic gain for such a reduction in the cm2. But again, turning the question, if not such a gain, why not? 1100 is a pretty big foil
650 will carry a much higher speed and be more manageable at that speed
Dlyan was out in the ocean bumps not towing. 1150 will handle a high speed as a sprint but it isn't designed for sustained high speed.

Wow! I didn't even know that speed was possible DW!!
must have been some bombs

Yeah totally understand - I'm coming from a winging background, so full noise isn't hard to achieve, but a foil that's comfortable and can be pushed harder and harder is always a goal.
I just got another branded 700cm2 foil which I've been playing around with, honestly not even sure if its better than an 850 wing I have, need some more windy sessions to push it hard.

That why I so amazed at the RS 650. Bottom end that actually allows the wing to be usable but a top end I doubt I have the balls to touch. Maybe one day.

Conditions are everything. I've hit 53kph is rather benign flat water. Didn't even realise and was quite shocked when I saw the GPS data. I knew the foil was giving me everything it had, I had both feet in the foot straps either side to keep the foil down.
Then again in moderate sea state, feeling like I'm near death and then only seeing 40kph.
I know a few of the Japanese guys have hit massive speeds on GL220's so the 650 should be brilliant.

Yah I get what you are saying. Think my best on wave speed is 27kts. It felt fast at the time too. That was a NL160.
I no longer have a GPS to track but may end up borrowing as I think 30-35kts is doable with 650/500. Biggest change with the 650 compared to say a GL80 is the additional control and comfort whilst at speed.

With 500cm I'd say 30 is very comfortable and an achievable goal. 35, that's getting up there, wind foiling guys on 350cm are barely touching 37+. Might need to demo one of these, very interested in the performance and range of the 650.
You will indeed have to sort out a go. I warn you though you'll buy one.
On a side note the run of epic .9-1.1m summer swell continues. I used to ride this sort of swell on a 160/190, now the 1000.
I'm pumping further and linking more waves more easily than ever before on a much smaller foil. CRAZY. Taking off later and steeper than I normally do and it loves it. God damn does it turn too. I cannot wait to see what it's like with the 12.5 FTS when they become available. Sorry I know my raving is getting boring.

Rich--are you prone, SUP or wing foiling when you are pumping and linking waves on the 1000? How much do you weigh?
805standup - prone. 90kg wet.
The above photo is my 4'9 Sunova. I run a longer board as I find it beneficial for the faster moving swell down here and I'm about 190cm tall. I have had a 44 board and it was too hard in longer period swell.

thanks i needed that info...im sold on the 1000...gonna go to maui and get onr in a couple weeks...

agree the PNL185 os majik for pump....ive owned the AXIS1150 thier best pumping wing and the PNL185 buries it ...easy...way faster...way more turney...
but yes the PNL185 does not like bigger waves...or any rip current backwash warblyness in the water....theres just sooooooo much lift and the span is sooooo wide...gets real twitchy on hard fast roundhouse cutbacks and powerfull bottom turns...
in 2 weeks ill have a review on the 1300
