Damn, I was reading the charts etc last night "should I or shouldn't I" and decided to flag it despite several days out of the water. I had a nagging feeling the forecasts were wrong given the synoptic charts and yep, it's glass out there right now. Would've been a nice day today. I like the lumpy, wedgey after-storm days quite a bit. Still no banks though.
Me thinks you will get it on this dropping tide, perfect for K-land
Take sum pics if ya get the time, it should be smoking!!
No phone, no camera doggie.
It was glassy and consistent 4' sets, a very few 5' sets and I saw a solid 6' wave steam through a couple of hundred metres south of the location. Although it was glassy it was a bit lumpy and messy. One or two fun takeoffs though. The place I usually sit was kind of too big so I sat in the main location. Crowd was spread wide and there were occasional clean-up sets to spread them further. Not many people considering how big it was. There were a few in the carpark who just watched and left, dunno why. It got smaller and the wind arrived at about 4:15pm so I paddled to where I usually sit and eventually got one in. I actually didn't get many waves since I was sitting way out waiting for elusive sets. The ones I did get were pretty good though. If you sat on the inside that was the most consistent spot with some solid walls and frequent waves, but I was chasing the big'uns and there weren't really enough.
I'm curious how big this location can handle since it was verging on too big today. Clean up sets were closing out very wide.
Chilly but looking fun again today.....off to a beachie somewhere again with my trusty beat up piece of sh!t board.
was crap surf, wind on it too much.
So in need of an ocean fix went fishing got enough herring for tea.
lol
I've given up on today. Can't do tomorrow. Weekends are always busy and I dunno if local breaks are worth visiting for a quickie (still no banks and Sat too small). Monday looks like my best bet for a next session.
I drove past Melville water and the city and it was glass at ~3pm. I knew it was just inland though. When I drove past Fremantle and Cott it was windy enough to be messy, so I'm glad I didn't spend the fuel money. If I was really desperate it might've been worth it but it was pretty bad.
Kearnsy's backyard. I knew it was going to be onshore but thought it'd be gentle enough and it was. A few fun waves pushing 4' on the biggest sets. 4 people minimum, maybe 10 max but about 6 for most of the time although nicely spread out. I wasn't going to go but next couple of days aren't looking so good so I was desperate.
Oh yeah, I didn't get out yesterday. I watched Trigg/Scabs on the webcams but god, it looks like summer. No banks at all and I just couldn't get motivated.
Thurs arvo next surf. And/or Fri morning.
Swell's way smaller than it should be . Not going to stop me from spending the afternoon at K-land .
You didn't miss anything. It was small and rapidly decreasing. I'm going to get in trouble out there shortly, because I think I'm the king already and I've only started hanging out there recently. Just too competitive to sit on the inside and take those waves, especially when everyone's a kook.
I have the opportunity to go out early tomorrow but I'm going to flag it. It costs too much in fuel for the size it's going to be in the morning. And it'll be cold first thing.
Maybe Monday? Otherwise there's not much swell around.
I went down south yesterday . But only for a day trip, and only to pick up some furniture so no surf. Wasn't good conditions anyway, strong onshore and pouring rain. Didn't even see the water.
A bit desperate looking next week. I might have to go tomorrow because later on is looking even flatter (tomorrow flat too).
