Looking forward to seeing you all at Gosford Sailing club tomorrow. With any luck the forecasted Nor Easter will arrive a little earlier than predicted for some fun racing.
1pm briefing in the clubhouse, 2-2:30pm start.
See you there.
Yep fingers crossed fo a nice NE, might pay to get to the club a little earlier than usual, very busy parking wise last week, had to drive around for 20 mins or so til something came up
Yep it looks like John's, got it for $80 at least if I ding it I am not wrecking someone else's board it is in pretty rough condition and I need to ascertain a power box fin that was the part that was missing. But I think it will sail fine.
A few patches need a bit of sanding and all it is missing now is a fine so it should be ready to go just after Xmas.
Bargain for $80.
You can use the Caveman Powerbox fin from mine until you find another. I also have a spare Powerbox Weed fin you can use (although it's a pretty small weed fin for a Raceboard), it'll get you out of trouble though.
We'll have to make sure you have a Boom that'll fit my old Severne 9.5 Raceboard rig (think it is about 255cm in the clew) and a set of new sail numbers.
I also have a couple (one of mine and one of yours) F2 Mast extenions, so you'll be able to rig a few sails all at once. Raceboard Nationals are at Hawks Nest 24-27-Jan 2017.
How's the Non Skid on it? If you need to re do the non skid, you can get a can of spray called "Monster Grip", Wind Surf and Snow at Long Reef sell them for $50.
I know Saturday is NYE and you may all have plans, but I'm hoping to get out for a sail in the afternoon. Anyone interested in joining me is more than welcome (doubt there'll be any official racing).
Monday's forecast is also looking ok, so I could be easily tempted to get out for a sail then too.
Happy new year to all.
Unfortunately my Raceboard gaskets decided to detach from the board so until I figure out getting them reattched I'll be out of action.
So I hope my Centreboard Gasket is all sorted. So I'll be down at the club tomorrow from around 12:30pm.
Hope to see you all there.
Another weekend is fast approaching. The forecast is looking rather light (up to 10 Knots), so bring your big sails and let's go racing.
Raceboard National titles only 10 sleeps away, so time to get in some pumping practice.
I'll be at Gosford Sailing Club around 12:30pm, briefing in the clubhouse downstairs at 1pm.
Well Saturday is almost upon us again, and the forecast is looking like a cracker! 20 knots from the south.
So bring your high wind rigs and let's get in one last practice prior to the Raceboard Nationals which start next Tuesday at Hawkes Nest.
As usual, briefing in the clubhouse at 1pm, I should be at the club around 12:30pm.
Peter W from the club has suggested we look at running two courses (one long for the faster guys using the top and bottom marks we usually use and a shorter one using the inside top and bottom marks for the slower guys with smaller rigs), we can discuss this at the briefing tomorrow but I think it's a good idea to keep us all finishing much closer to each other.
Also had a chat with Pete re different courses, sounds like a good idea trying to keep everyone a little close We could also stick a 20kg weight on the back of John's board
Ok lets make it a 10kbg penalty but you still have to do the long course, especially considering how well you went on Sat, good luck at the Nationals

Hi guys,
I'm away this weekend and then at the Huskisson Raceboard series heat the following weekend. See following link for the remaining 3 Raceboard series heats.
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/New-South-Wales/2016-2017-NSW-Raceboard-Series
I'll see how much I can eat between now and 3 weeks time Pete :)
If there's anyone at Gosford tomorrow or Saturday (Lyndon can't do tomorrow) then just make yourself known to Peter Walsh and let him know there will be boards racing.
Also note if anyone starts a race but is not planning on finishing, can you please try to sail past the Start/Finnish boat, or one of the rescue boats and let them know you're retiring, just so they know not to go looking for you.
See you in 3 weekends time.
John.
Hi all,
Another Saturday is almost upon us and the forecast for Raceboards is looking superb!
Racing at Gosford Sailing Club will be on, Briefing at the clubhouse (downstairs out the back) at 1pm, Race starts at 2pm. I'll aim to be at the club around 12:30pm.
See you all there.
JD.
The Forecast for tomorrow is looking quite good, with a fresh southerly expected.
Note there is a large number of Junior Opti sailors expected at Gosford Sailing club tomorrow & Sunday, and there is a Learn to Windsurf for the Opti Juniors also organized for Saturday and Sunday. Max Wojcik (National RSX coach) & Lissa McMillan from DAC will be at Gosford club to teach the kids from around 10am Saturday and also returning Sunday. I'll also be there from around 10am. Anyone interested in seeing one of the worlds best (Max is currenty #2 at last years World Raceboard Titles and the current #1 at this years Raceboard Oceanics) teaching newcomers is more than welcome to come down and see him in action.
Racing is as usual scheduled to start at 2:25pm (Briefing at 1pm in the clubhouse).
See you all tomorrow.
Racing is on again tomorrow. Briefing at the clubhouse at 1pm, I'll be there around 12:30pm.
All are welcome, any board, any sail.
According to the weather station we had 20 knotts, but it seemed much more. The rain was blowing along horizontally and most boats were out of control with many capsizes. It was pretty much survival for me. Took a couple of catapults that didn't help but the out of control yachts did my nerve to really commit and go for it, which was what was needed. The cave man was a much better choice for the day rather than spearing underwater with the RSD2 in the really big chop.
John you did some astounding runs down wind with your 8.6m. You were really moving and sailing so deep off the wind.
I had an email from max who is v happy with the still photos, but needs a codec to view the video from last weekend. No clearance to post or link the images at this stage.
Yes it certainly wasn't the ideal weather, great breeze which at times reminded me of the Thursday at last year Worlds.
Visibility was very poor due to the rain thoug.
I should have used my 8.6 today at the WoolharaRaceboard event. Instead I chose my 7.8m and suffered being underpowered all day as the forecast breeze never really arrived in time :(
Saturday sounds like it was pretty epic. Looked at the footage from the racing at Woolhara and kept looking for the orange sail, it finally clicked when I saw 817 rounding the top mark with a smallish sail. You still did well from what I saw beating quite a few to the top mark

Saturday was awesome, Lyndon may disagree though ;) I was pretty powered up all the way with my 8.6 Reflex II.
Yes I made the wrong sail choice but the forecast wasn't looking like 9.5 LW rig conditions. And I think my Loft would have been a handful still, but my Severne Reflex II would have been fine.
I was not that slow upwind, but off the breeze I was mowed down by anyone with a bigger rig pretty quickly. Thems the breaks unfortunately.
Another Saturday fast approaching, the forecast is looking rather light and I may even have to get the Lechner Div II board out for a play :)
I have something on in the morning, so I'm going to be pressed for time to get to Gosford Sailing club before the 1pm briefing. But I should make the 2:20pm start ok.
I know Peter S is away and Lyndon will also be late, Peter D is hoping to make an appearance, so I hope to see you all out on the water tomorrow. Lyndon, maybe we can run a 2nd unofficial race after the club race if you like?
John.
Hi all,
I'll be down at St George Sailing Club this Saturday (18-Mar) for the last heat of the Summer Raceboard Series (not sure if Pete is coming down too).
So I'll miss you all at Gosford tomorrow, however if you wish to race at Gosford, Briefing will be in the clubhouse at 13:00 and racing due to commence at 14:20 or there abouts.
I'll be back at Gosford the following Saturday. See you all then.
I more than likely will be sailing at Gosford, unless it's pouring down then I will more than likely be lying on the couch watching the footy. will post an update on Sat am
Hi Pete,
I came out just as the races were starting . I saw a windsurfer around the start with a red and black sail. I lost everything in a squall. then I saw the windsurfer heading towards Koolewong. Was that you Pete. There was a one design out there as well. Go Sailor but not in the race as far as I could see.
Most of the boats did a triangle course , which was a real procession, all lined up, rather than boats going every which way.
The formula board was great fun for me and I could see the potential, but in those winds I would be much faster around the course on a race board. 70 % of the time the wind was sub 9knots. 5 % it was over 20knots, the remaining 25% it was a very gusty 12 to 15 knots but very up and down, really swirly , lots of holes and bullets.
I had two memorable runs from the oyster racks to Japanese gardens and Back. I haven't been on a formula board for a long time but it feels like I imagine foiling would feel I imagine. I think you'd need to be quite skillful to make use of them, but once going they are amazing.
Hey John, how were your races.
This isnt my actual board but it looks exactly like this. They were made in 2008/9.
