The areas in blue are particularly nasty! They look like you can sail over them but they bite!
I can see where I came un-stuck I'm nick naming it the devils tail
@tonyK ,
Photo of the gap through the northern edge of the new bar. This photo is high tide. I walked it at low tide as it's only knee deep in spots at low. Sailable at high with the right wind angle as surfinfreak said. Be warned the current rips through here.
the whole area seems to be changing weekly. Photo by bluey
Have you made it home yet tardy?
sure did and its been blowing its arse off and I'm out injured ..LOL,

Bummer. Sacrificed for the greater good
Great image Gustalt, sounds like there won't be any foiling out the new bar any time soon
Cheers TK
,I reckon you'd run aground before you got to it on the pond side. There is a bank there.
next few weeks will change again. There are plenty of foilers at the bar proper.
the sand on the banks is loose like quicksand so it is easily pushed around with the currents.
Sailed at the new bar over the Anzac weekend. It is a bit hard to record yourself... so some friends with me. I was standing in waste-deep water, wind about 20kn; sailed out from the motorboat club.
The swell is onshore where I was standing in the water, but as you go out further the swell wraps around that outer-sandbar (shown in those pics above) so that they are directly in front of you.
( the looping looks like the same shot repeated... there was a wave in just the right spot so that a lot of them were in the same spot on each run )
West wind . Barrels out the back.
trees in the pond
Wicked pic from Blueys.
Used to live at anchor midde of pic just to the right of that drain.
Lovin those colours.
Not the bar, but the old bar. Confused, I was with SW winds in April.!!!
Apologies for the quality, this was a rare occasion indeed, so please don't get your hopes up thinking it's like this all the time. ??
Hope you enjoy!
Yeah winds been weird! Supposed to be the duldrums this time of year.
You guys scored for sure. I keep watching the forecasts for the next time

East coast Coronation beach
I predicted ages ago this might become a wave sailing spot when the old bar was closing up. Fingers crossed it gets better and reliable
Always been like that Moz in a sw even when bar was there. Couple of times was logo high and hollow but it's rare because typically the swell goes flat when wind shifts offshore.
Gotta be there early too. Like 6.30 to get the wind before it dies.
John Koda once told me he had some of his best waves at mools in a cyclone swell with SE wind. Big DTL walls. Guessing similar to the conditions in the video below. when the windsurfing school was in Mooloolaba the guys would rave about how good the place was.
new mission is to try a few SE winds there
I went wave sailing there in the early 90's and twice in the last 10 years. Hopefully I can go there more often instead of Golden Pond.

new bar bump and jump session on Monday after tide turns?

Monday southerly is looking good for caloundra
At 2:34 is gold! How annoying being on a wave a having a wind anchor affecting your wave riding ability!

Where is the best place to launch waveboard or windfoil to ride the waves at Mooloolaba ?
Closer to rock wall is a easier launch with less shortbread. Beware of rocks underwater south of last beach entrance.

In ne wind where Mr keen suggested. To get it in a SE I think further towards surf club is the spot.
I've windsurfer from the ne'r launch spot in a SE and it's not great. Too offshore and super gusty. Further towards surf club is more cross shore in a SE
