Interesting. I was thinking about getting a Flight Evo for foiling, but maybe this is a better option so I don't have to buy a whole new mast

If you are wanting to race foil, then I would not hesitate in getting the Flight Evo over the slalom sail. It is a completely different animal.
I have the Flight Evo Foil Race sail quiver and they are incredible. The new Flight Evo 2 looks almost identical apart from some weight savings in the material.
very pretty. unlike the severne m3 which seems they messed up this year graphics-wise (unless the pic I saw today was not the final version)

Thanks for your input Steve, I've been wanting to hear from someone who has the Flight Evos to see if they're worth the expense. I'm not happy about having to buy a whole new mast or two on top of the sail price due to the luff length though.
Wow that new RS Racing sail is very nice looking! I was thinking of getting a 7m to replace my older 7.2m RS slalom, but the new sizing being 7.4m kinda mucks up my sail gaps. I have a 6.2m and a 7.8m so a 7.4 isn't quite the right size!
.....maybe I'd have to get a 6.6m also!

I tried a 7m Flight Evo on the weekend, and it is a great sail. I'm thinking an 8m would be better for getting going in lighter winds though. Is the 8m more grunty in lighter winds or is there not much difference? Have you tried the two different clew positions?

Maddlad I don't have a lot a experience on foils yet as I only started the foiling thing 8 weeks ago, so I only have about 150k"s of sailing so far
(in other words I know nothing )
At present I like using my 7.8 or 9.2 on my NPglide/JP135 package, so for me I would be go for the 8m
But in saying that I know in WA you have a lot more wind to work with so that has to be considered
Cheers

Hey Maddlad,
The 8m will have more bottom end then the 7m yes. The 7m is a high wind foil sail. The 8m is a great size with a pretty big range (It is actually my favourite size out of all of them).
You will definitely get up and flying earlier in the lighter wind then the 7m.
To increase your wind range, run the lower clew position in stronger winds. This allows the leech to twist out more and give you more control.
For lighter winds, use the top clew position for tighter leach.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your input Steve. I'm familiar with the difference in the clew positions as I use them with my race sails, but thanks for giving me the heads up anyway. I haven't tried the 7m on the top clew yet, so that's my next step to see if it adds much bottom end grunt.
I was just wondering if the 8 was the goods coz I currently use my 7.8 Evo 7 & 7m Evo 10 race sails on the foil when it gets above 15 knots. I don't really want to have to buy two of them (RS Flight Evo) coz the damn things are so expensive and in some cases require a completely new mast.
TonyK so where did this snipit come from? Be curious to see what mast lengths work with each size with the higher aspect ratios.

This is where i found the details on all the 2020 NP gear
I think the EVO stuff was on page 3 of the Neil pryde threads
Unlike us they don't have to wait till 2020 to get the info in Europe. .....

Cheers I took a peek! Wow they sure find out stuff well before the rest of us! I'll keep an eye on that other forum!

so is this really how M3 will look like for 2020?

That's what it looked like when I rolled it out, so yes

Looks like 2 panels have been repaired or replaced
No doubt will still work ok
AA in disguise?
After the worst start possible he was going past the others like they were a women's fleet.

Probably not. He's fast, but he dropped half of his gybes.

GER 93 is Andy Laufer.
Look him up in the GPSSS ranking. He did a peak of over 100 kmh in Luderitz

GER sticker on the sail. Was it Andy L? Arms too skinny for AA lol. Is AA on JP now?
It's Andy Laufer. He's a beast. After his fourth foil session ever he posted a 30 knot top speed on the foil. Not to mention the speeds he does on a slapper.
Had a break from windsurfing for 4 years and have just replace my EVO 6/7 to EVO 11. I noticed when i rigged the new sails on my older NP FX100 masts that it looked strange and that the cambers didn't rotate from the boom and below. Have Neil Pryde changed bend curve on the mast the last couple of years, i saw that their new masts are called TPX100?

Have got a mix FX, FLX and TPX masts for my Evo 9's and can't notice any difference between them. All sails rig to spec and show the same leech. Feel wise I can't notice much if any difference.
Do know that Evo's need some batten tuning when new. If I'm correct they come with the battens sometimes a couple of cm's too long. On my 7.8 it made a hugh difference when I shortened the 2 battens above the boom.
I think the Evo 11 and 12 only work on the TPX and SPX as its a different bend curve. Could be wrong but that might explain why its not setting properly.
The diameter of the TPX seems to be less than the older X9 / FX / FLX especially at and below the boom. Having said that the E10s and 11s that I have seem to work fine on all of the aforementioned masts with a bit of batten tension tweaking and downhaul tuning.
