Its harder than I thought to find places with continuous 30 year averages going way back. I suppose that's why BoM homogenise data. Here's mean temperature maxima for Wandering in June. Wandering is well away from the city and often one of the coldest places around Perth.

I think I read somewhere that Wandering is meant to be the coldest place in WA, not just Perth.

If you aren't arguing the cause of global warming, could it be a normal solar cycle, the same reason for ice ages in the past?

I am also one of those people that think we should reduce carbon output, but I do have to wonder if it would make much difference to a world that created dinosaurs and other megafauna.

Up until today the average temperature so far this month is 17.5 C - a full 2 C lower.

The graph posted by remery in the previous page showing from around 1910 the average temperature of Perth being 17. 6C - its lower this month.

Global Warming has arrived folks

London is the warmest city in the U.K due to the release of heat in the buildings etc.

Yes, the weather in Perth has been cold recently. But what about May? You were telling us that May was freezing.

"The [UK] Met Office said Sunday's peak temperature at Coningsby was registered in the same location as the UK's hottest ever day, when 40.3C was recorded on 19 July last year during an extreme heatwave.

Dallas is unusually cold for this time of the year. Must be global cooling. Overnight lows of 26 degrees Fahrenheit is freezing. Wait what.who changed my phone to Celsius

Hardly surprising .

In around 1875, the planet experienced the coldest temperatures for at least the last 8000 years. It is quite natural to expect the temperatures to rise from this point.

"Whether temperatures have been warmer or colder in the past is largely irrelevant to the impacts of the ongoing warming. If you don't care about humans and the other species here, global warming may not be all that important; nature has caused warmer and colder times in the past, and life survived. But, those warmer and colder times did not come when there were almost seven billion people living as we do. The best science says that if our warming becomes large, its influences on us will be primarily negative, and the temperature of the Holocene or the Cretaceous has no bearing on that. Furthermore, the existence of warmer and colder times in the past does not remove our fingerprints from the current warming, any more than the existence of natural fires would remove an arsonist's fingerprints from a can of flammable liquid. If anything, nature has been pushing to cool the climate over the last few decades, but warming has occurred." - Richard Alley.

"Whether temperatures have been warmer or colder in the past is largely irrelevant to the impacts of the ongoing warming. But not necessarily irrelelevant to the cause of global warming. The point the guy in the YouTube clip made was that if we started taking meteorological measurements from what seems to be the coldest point in the last 10,000 years, it makes it difficult to be certain the rise wasn't going to happen anyway. If you don't care about humans and the other species here, global warming may not be all that important; nature has caused warmer and colder times in the past, and life survived. But, those warmer and colder times did not come when there were almost seven billion people living as we do. Not being certain that any recent increases in temperature were man-made or were going to occur anyway doesn't mean that you don't care, it means that you aren't certain any recent increases in temperature were man-made or were going to occur anyway. Bad analogy - or maybe actually a very good one. Whether or not the arsonist starts a fire, the fuel is there and would have burned eventually anyway. If anything, nature has been pushing to cool the climate over the last few decades, but warming has occurred. Has it? What has 'nature' been doing?" - Richard Alley.

I think the idea about nature cooling the Earth has something to do with Milankovich cycles
The anti AGM crowd often calls on a 1970s projection that the world should be heading into an ice age as proof that climate scientists are always wrong

I really have no idea what is happening with global warming... my view is that it's distracting everyone from the real problem - overpopulation. The unsustainable preoccupation of wanting an ever increasing GDP on a fixed size planet is insanity, as well as being entirely unnecessary. People worry that if the GPD isn't constantly growing that there were won't be enough work for everyone - exactly right, we could all have a 3-day working week!

So it turns out the average temperature for June was 17.4 C - a massive 2.1 degrees below the average across the 30 days of June.

Perth a few days ago recorded its coldest overnight temperature ever -0.7 C

Man made Global Warming is causing cooling lol.

For the coming months of July and August were the average temperature of Perth to also decrease.....global warming again

The sea is rising because the ice is melting on land spilling into the oceans caused by cooling temperatures - right.

I looked at Dallas and they also recorded their coldest overnight temperature in 2021 - global warming again.

The man made global crowd believe irrespective of the evidence to the contrary so i am not expecting any change of opinion from the religious zealots to their theory.

You still haven't explained why May, a few weeks ago was warmer than average?

Are you talking about Dallas Texas? "At least 13 people have died as a result of the heat in Texas. Eleven of those deaths were in Webb County. The city of Laredo has recorded 16 consecutive days of 105+ temperatures."

"Although the forecast for Wednesday - expected to be the peak of this week's heat wave - called for a scorching high of 105 degrees, the temperature at DFW International Airport settled at 100 in the early afternoon. The heat index, a measure of what it feels like outside, hit 110. As the temperatures rose this week - and Texas was said to be one of the hottest places in the world."

Unfortunately, the scientists that coined the term are very poor marketers IMO, and have confused the public. They should have called it Global Climate Instability, because this is the effect people see in real life.

Like what? There is no change to any global extreme events apart from a slight increase in global mean temperature, mostly manifesting as an increase in extreme low temperatures.

It is called global warming because that is the direct effect being observed, a small warming of the lower atmosphere and surface temps, some of it possibly due to human activity. Any other claim or name is what confuses people.

NASA GISS have nothing to do whatsoever with NASA Space Agency. The Goddard Institute of Space Studies are a sperate organisation set up and run for many years by self confessed climate activist James Hansen. He was removed from office by Obama after being arrested twice at Climate demonstations. His understudy Gavin Schmidt now runs it.

They are not known for thier impartiality in respect for the causes of global warming.

what most people dont realise is that those graphs are not simply the plot of temperature data, they have been heavily manipulated and in often depart from the origninal data significnatly. The GISS land data set is heavily smoothed and homogenised and is subject to a lot of questions about bias in the way they manipulate the data. It is not unfounded. We have similar problems here with the BoMs ACORN data. Homegenisation is necessary, but it because it requires a significant amount of black box human manipulation it is open to concious and unconcious bias. The below link has lots of individual station data to reference. www.waclimate.net/acorn2/index.html

Patrick Moore (website | Twitter | books | key book) was a founding member of Greenpeace, a former President of the Greenpeace Foundation, Director of Greenpeace International and President of Greenpeace Canada.

His environmental work successfully fought against atmospheric nuclear testing, industrial-scale hunting of whales and the brutal harvesting of harp seal and hooded seal pups.

But he left Greenpeace in 1986 as it was being transformed from an organisation dedicated to saving civilisation to one dedicated to the destruction of civilisation. The influx of neo-Marxist ideology and activists meant that Greenpeace started to campaign for restrictions upon human action that were illogical, unscientific and harmful to human thriving. The green movement changed, and saw mankind not as steward of the planet but as a threat to and virus upon the world.

The mass psychosis concerning carbon dioxide-an essential nutrient without which plant life (and hence all higher forms of life) would cease to exist-is one example of the errors of the modern green movement; the furore over polar bears (whose numbers are exploding due to the suspension of hunting) is another.

Patrick Moore outlines better alternatives, and maintains that scientific rigour must be regained if green-lobby-led folly is to be overturned.

We must however never stop trying.
